Forums - Nintendo - Q1 Wii games for Japan?

@Soriku: Most of the other games like EoE, First of the North Star, Dead Rising 2, Castlevania, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3, FFvsXIII, FFXIV, Star Ocean 4 International, Ar Tonelico will obviously gather a lot of fans since those are games that are a first for the console, they have had no previous games in their franchises, so they will sell to fans of those and new owners as well.

Wii has DQX, but that's light years ahead.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Star Ocean, Yakuza, MGS, FF14 and Versus. All big titles, but they have nothing on the biggest release of the year. I'm talking of course about GT5, with that in the spring sony doesn't need anything else, all the other games are merely bonus points.

You are clearly have a blurred view, you can't see what's going on with the Wii and 3rd parties in Japan. It's of no use to discuss with you, I should have known better.

Even if third parties are moving away from Wii, that doesn't exclude Nintendo games, and that doesn't mean no third party games will be announced for Wii in 2010

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I never said that.

But those were smaller games from new IP's, Ar Tonelico for example is a franchise and has many fans. Same for SO4, Dead Rising, Castlevania, First of the North Star. These games will gather new people because they are established franchises.

There's nothing to counteract those games with. Plus Yakuza 4, FFvsXIII, Metal Gear Solid Rising, Star Ocean 4, First of the North Star are not small.

3rd party devs clearly are going away. They haven't announced a game in a long time.

Edited my previous post with more games for the PS3.

wii doesn't have much announced right now.  I hope something comes up but all of those games except star ocean 4 have been solidly established on PS3.  Yakuza already has 2 games on ps3, FF is already on there and could be a long ways away, metal gear solid already on ps3 (seems to be western focused too), fist of the northstar is another musou game that ps3 has plenty of already.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

You can't act like the rest of the games won't draw people in.

New Super Mario Bros Wii should be enough to carry the momentum in Japan through the next few months, which is probably why Nintendo didn't announce anything substantial yet. In reality, PS3's known lineup for the same time period isn't that great either* (Gran Turismo is probably the only one) so both system's will have to hope that their holiday momentum carries them until the Summer.

*In the context of software that pushes hardware.

It's not great, but there is enough variation in it and it's better than it's Q1 2009 line-up, and putting it at the same level of the Wii, is lying to yourself for whatever reason.

I think that the Wii will sell in the 15k-25k range due NSMB Wii, but it could fall below that if Nintendo or a Third-party doesn't announce something new to excite the Wii-fanbase.

^It was selling in the 15-25K even before NSMB Wii, lol, it'll definitely put it higher than that, lol
