So I got my God of War Collection, with no demo voucher inside despite the sticker on the box claiming there should be one.
Anyway, Sony emailed me the code after a few days.. they didn't even ask any questions. Pretty darn good customer service there I think. I played it this morning.. here are some impressions:
1.) The detail on Kratos is unbelievable. Looking at his character model close-up, I have no idea how they can make something that detailed. I thought that his face in the beginning was CGI. Also, there are great other things like blood splatters all over his body that disappear over time, and the guts that pour out of enemies is just awesome. The game looks absolutely beautiful, and Kratos looks extra angry because of the HD. In my opinion, despite it being just a demo, it already beats Uncharted 2's visuals.
2.) There's so much going on during a battle that it's hard to keep track. With the titan in the background fighting Helios, and like 20 grunts battling you with a huge centaur, it gets a bit hectic. I wonder how they fit all of that activity in the game all the while keeping a pretty good framerate. It's not 60fps, but it's pretty solid. There's a bit of slowdown here and there, but I guess it won't go any lower than 30fps.
3.) The action is much more fluid this time and combos chain much better. I just got off finishing God of War 2 and I really felt the difference in the controls. It's still the same game, but the attacks are so much easier to hit and Kratos is just simply easier to move.
4.) The head ripping thing.. I think I'll have nightmares tonight.
Very, very awesome work on the game so far. I just hope that they don't pack too many things going on in the background that the framerate would dip below 30.
