Forums - Microsoft - Ever refuse to buy a game due to achievements?

No not really but Blue Dragon did make me not finish the game.

The last thing I'm worried about when buying a game is the achievements or the box art

NO, but it has influenced my buying decisions. (trophies)

Yes when it comes to cheaper games (I still own 100+ games between XBLA) and I would not buy a cheap game at $10 or less if the achivements were incredibly stupidly hard to get and had little interest in the game (Like Rumble Roses or Dead or Alive Volleyball, tho I did get Ridge Racer which I loved and only got like 20 points on).

It's just that simple.

Achievements can be the reason i buy a game but not the reason that i did not.

I've never gotten into achievements. I have limited time to play so most games I just want to play the campaign then start the next game. Maybe if I get laid off....

Haha, excellent point, I find it MUCH harder to try and keep up with my games and worry about achievements now that I'm working. When I was first into getting achievements, I was unemployed, so it wasn't so bad.

But, when I rent or borrow games, I *usually* go a little nuts to finish them asap and get them out of the way (so says the guy who borrowed Modern Warfare 1 for about a year before playing the single player).

i got all the gears of war 1 achievements legitimately!! Thank you very much! Definitely tied (with halo 3) for my favorite game of the gen!

Long Live SHIO!

I really enjoy developers that know how to make achievment or trophy lists.

I agree about the 100% thing, i feel like its a product and if i buy it or play it i should complete what the devs feel is 100%, it bothers me when they put stuff in that makes no sense or makes you play the game differently.

Like KZ2 badge trophies, like absurd melee kills in a match, people get into games online and try for this achievement ignoring the focus of the MP aspect and it ruins the experience.

Achievements or trophies should be fluid in the game, not pains or timesinks.

I bought a game once on a whim because i thought i recalled that the achievements were not too troublesome and mostly offline..........that game was Shadowrun.

Turns out that almost every GOD DAMN achievement for the game were online multiplayer ones.

Oh, and they are the annoying grinding type achievements too.

Worst £7 i ever spent in my life, never registered playing it on my 316 gamertag.
