I think the first poster was commenting on Matt making a lot of snide comments about Nintendo 'Losing quality' and 'Not focusing on the core market'. As well as his constant referring to games and content on the HD systems as something Nintendo should have. IE: the head writer of the Nintendo section of IGN is sounding more like someone who is against the Wii and is following the whole online console wars junk. And in his case, he's seems to be siding with the HD systems.
Peoples defense of IGN aside, they have been following the same trend as almost any other reviewer this gen. Giving the Wii less than stellar (mocking) coverage and comments in their previews and news sections. And I doubt anyone can call many of their recent 'coverage' for the Wii to be anything but hearsay and slander, from constantly starting up rumors of games like Kid Icarus and Star Fox to poking fun at Wii Music and Wii Fit every chance they get. Like many news sites, they're treating the Wii as a secondary system which they feel they can pretty much say anything they want about, because they feel no one 'important' cares about the Wii (aka, if you like the Wii, you're not a 'hardcore' gamer).
With this kind of mentality and blatant unprofessionalism posted right on their site (and has been going on since last gen with the GC and GBA), its no wonder viewership has retreated. Or it could just simply be their 'core' readership was always a set market of readers...and they all took IGNs hint to jump over to the so called 'core' systems and abandon Nintendos the 'kiddy based gimmick machines with only 3 good games'. Which could also account for their lower readership as the HD systems accounts for a smaller userbase than Wii and DS.
