First ME was a dissapointment and Bioware has become a very mediocre developer this gen. They cant put out a good game anymore like they did 5+ years ago.

So FFXIII obviously, but I'd have a hard time choosing between FFXIII and say, The Witcher 2.

What the hell are you talking about.  ME is easily the best game this gen and rivals the best of all time.

FFXIII really has no shot in this comparision except for jRPG fanatics.  don't get me wrong, I think FF is going to be fantastic and is a day 1 purchase for me, but I have seen nothing to indicate that it is in ME's class (pun intended).

Well it's a hard choice for me, since I will get both, but I would probably go for FF XIII if I would have to decide.

Well, i shouldnt comment here since i prefer jrpg and havent played ME, but i prefer FFXIII to any game out there

You really have trouble differentiating between opinion and cold hard fact, don't you? I think the majority of the board would disagree with your sentiment (and his for that matter). If you compare ME to Baldur's Gate (among the most beloved PC games of all time) you'll find that ME is... not that exceptional to most who have been doing this for a while.

I liked Dragon Age as well but I feel that its a step down from Neverwinter Nights II so I also believe that Bioware have lost a little something along the way (and I don't like their "consoleification" of their games either, makes the PC versions less than they could be, as is the case with ME).

Good point!  I am glad someone else feels that way.  <sigh> Such is the gaming market today, and it will only get worse.

FF13, I'm Asian so I like the torturous grinding.

I don't feel qualified to answer, since I haven't finished the first Mass Effect yet.

Hard choice - since I am really looking forward to versus BUT I can't say "no" to Dragon Age (will be a series) Witcher 2 and Diablo 3*.

Let's all say that together....

"Diablo 3, Diablo 3, Diablo 3"

* Before anyone says that D3 isn't an RPG, I would point out that it has as many elements of RPG games as the FF series.

"Diablo 3, Diablo 3, Diablo 3"

ME is a good game, but nowhere near the best game of this gen =P, Dragon Age: Origins on PC easily beats it, by far. If this thread was Origins on PC first or FF13 first, I'd easily go with Origins on PC.

Im' missing on both, but since I like WRPG and JRPG. I would put my vote on Mass Effect 2. I like Final Fantasy games for their story, but it's really just like a book. Sure there a bits here and there like various secrets that can extend the game, but overall the experience is the same. Bioware games gives you some options to change some of the game experience.

Now I haven't managed to finish ME1, but I remember having SHepard free the alien creature captive. I don't know if it will have an effect later in the game or in ME2, but the fact I can have a choice and it will make game play difference in my experience means there is more experience to be had in the ME games.

Mass Effect 2 all the way.
