I just saw it on XBL in HD. This is how it should be seen. This trailer kicks ass.

That is a very good point.  Looks like no hammer.  They will most definitely add some new weapons.  In the case of additional items and features, I think it is more important to be a slave to gameplay than a slave to story.

And I just want to throw this image out there.

It could still have Brutes in it.  You have to remember the first Halo took place when both the humans and covenant were isolated from their main fleets.  It could of just been the elite portion of the fleet (as the elites and brutes don't get along).  So there still could have been brutes planetside on reach.  We don't really know because the book doesn't talk about what happened on the planet, just what happened up in space with master chief.  

I wouldn't be surprised to see brutes walking around in Halo reach.  However, one thing is for sure, there will be a gravity hammers in halo reach multiplayer at least.  Which is really what this game is all about. 

Second impressions after watching it in HD and reading some of the analysis stuff:

1) I thought the teaser was CGi when I saw it in SD, but it's not. Bloody amazing visuals, absolutely stellar stuff. The lighting is the best I've seen on the 360 so far, maybe the best I've ever seen.

2) Good, 6-player co-op with classes, way to keep up with the game Bungie.

3) Music is excellent, as usual.

4) Was I watching CGi? Still feels like it. :P

5) This part really is actually pissing me off, but they show Spartan faces and they're all grizzled, normal looking adults. In the books they're just these creepy looking, tall young kids, due to the bone grafts, muscle injections, and so forth. WTF is this shit? I don't like it one bit.

Hype wise this didn't really do much... BUT! if the final game keeps with the tone and setting of that trailer, I may actually be interested in it.

I agree with you on all counts.  I just watched it in HD on XBL and it looks so much better than last night on Spike.  It definitely has Gears of War 2 graphics or better.

As to the last part, I believe they did look like adults by the time Reach happened.  In the original Halo series I believe the MC is at least in his 30's to 40's.  I'm betting they used more normal looking faces so as to keep the whole vision of a perfect human going.  After all, everyone wants their heroes to look good as well

What confuses me, is that so far the 6 spartans are not even including the ones that I remember from Reach.  In the last Halo: Legends video I just saw, it showed Fred and Kelly with the MC, and as far as Reach was concerned, I was pretty sure I remembered Fred, Kelly, Will, and a few others being involved.

EDIT:  Also, whoever said it was right.  There is a 7 formed in the clouds at the end.  Wonder if that is the month the beta will start?  Kinda dissappointing since that's 2 months later than the Halo 3 beta started, but oh well.

I think this is an entirely different squad from the books.  This way you aren't just following footsteps maybe.  They want a new story to tell.

^Makes sense. This way rather than following the book storyline, they can still make their own new story arc. Makes perfect sense actually since there were plenty of spartan teams on Reach. Just only 1 was originally thought to survive (MC) and only one team was officially followed to have survived (Fred, Will, Kelly, Linda, etc). I guess it makes sense that maybe one other team survived and went off on their own fight in some way.

Can't wait to see what Bungie does with the story and what features are included in the game!! All I have to say is that if they kept all the Halo 3 features, and made that level of graphics...... just ASTOUNDING!
