absolutely NOT...its NOT about selling gang busters on 360 its about Expanding the series past there already loyal fanbase of on PS and getting NEW followers

Not to sound like a fanboy, but you are aware that the PS fans of the old are the PS3/360 fans of the new? There selling it to the exact same audience really.

OP: If the game sells under a mill then they will. I know Namco regrets keeping ToV exclusive though.

ToV is exclusive?

It was for a whole year, wasnt it?

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

i thought they didn't because they had free funding from microsoft to develop the game.

The only way Square/Enix would regret porting it if it sells less then 1 million copies and I don't see that happen.

This. If it sells less than one million, look for Sony exclusive or wii exclusive from now on.

That may be true, but I have never played a Final Fantasy all the way through, and though the game looks good, I probably wouldn'tve gotten a PS3 for it either, but now I'm going to get it and am excited to play it. I'm sure some others are in the same boat as well.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

I guess the real only thing i could think of is when they decided to make 'crystal tools' engine multiplatform... after that making a 360 port isn't a bad move. If final fantasy doesn't live up to it's reputation in graphics, then maybe in the future they may see it as a bad move, quality of this game has to be great, that's what the series is known for- graphics certainly help this. Who knows if they could have really pushed the PS3 had they developed exclusively or if they would be the same place they are now. Their gorgeous engines last gen were all developed exclusively for PS2. And of course they're going to say the PS3 version remained the same and wasn't held back by a 360 release; would anyone actually expect them to say otherwise?

They wont.. they have to recover their R&D costs on this title and doing a PS3 only port would not help them at all.. as for reputation... thats like saying if Halo went multiplat, bungie would lose its "reputation"...or it would, sell less! Good games sell themselves...

I think the day of 3rd party devs sticking to a particular console are truly over...

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

You saying that they wouldnt if the game was a PS3 exclusive? That sounds highly unlikely. Look at MGS4, FFXIII probably had more hype to it then that!

As for reputation take a look at Tekken 6
