Cutting again price too early, much less than one year after Elite cut, could harm XB360 reputation and make people think they have to give them away.
| ArnoldRimmer said: I too think they will only be able to reach that goal with price cuts. The PS3 is clear ahead of the 360 in hardware sales exactly since its price cut, because right now the PS3 simply is the better deal for the money. Natal will boost 360 sales a little, but with it's late 2010 release it will not be able to save the year alone, so a price cut will probably happen in early 2010 already. But I think it will be a hard year for the 360 even with price cuts. 2010 is going to be a huge year for the PS3, with things like Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3 etc. coming up. And of course the Playstation Wand, which probably won't be quite as successful as Natal, but with it's much earlier release it will probably still outsell Natal at least in 2010. |
I am so tired hearing things about the PS3 lineup. The only game that could move hardware is GT5. Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers won't do anything. Sure, they will be fun, but they won't move hardware at all. God of War 3 will do good software sales, but the hardware bump will be pretty small (maybe a bit more than Killzone 2 did) and not last long.
I am confident to say that the 360 games will outsell PS3 games in 2010. The lineup for the 360 in 2010 in simply untouchable saleswise. So, Xbox 360 will sell more software in 2010 than the PS3.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
Can the moderator start collapsing these threads ALL based on Greenberg's interview...my goodness!

Yes doesn't mean it'll sell more software. Yes just means it'll reach that Life time guess.

Is it really even up for debate that the 360 will shift more software, seriously its still a monster and that will not change. I'm not saying the PS3 isn't great too, just historically speaking the 360 simply shifts more.

Yeah, of course I meant these numbers as lifetime numbers. Not 2010 numbers. But the multiplat releases like
etc are all very designed for the shooter loving Xbox 360 community. And the exclusives are looking awesome as well. That is why I think the Xbox 360 will move more software in 2010 than the PS3.

Alan Wake will easily sell 2 million. I'm certain it will sell more than 3 million actually.

Wrong.
"One, we will continue to offer a better value on hardware pricing. We will continue to remain $100 cheaper than PS3."
What he says is true. Did you not read the first part of the statement? Better value on HARDWARE pricing. This means there is no "condition" you are trying to include. The Xbox 360 will remain $100 cheaper than PS3 in HARDWARE.
Also, cutting the price next fall will not hurt anything at all. Only fanboys will think that a price cut would mean they have to give them away. They didn't even really have a price cut this year. They removed the Pro console in a move to sneakily increase value without having to do anything. The Elite is now the Pro with an updated hard drive which if they had kept the Pro, it would have gone up to the 120gb hard drive this fall anyway. Elite = Pro, so really there was no price cut. They removed the HDMI cable from the Elite so it offers nothing more than the Pro.
@OP
Yes this is going to be one of the best, if not the best, year for the 360 in both hardware and software I think. Can't wait for it!
