Forums - Nintendo - Need help with Wii on an HDTV....please help!

Hi everyone:

I need some help with hooking up my wii to an HDTV. I have heard some bad stories, so I was hoping someone with more knowledge than me could help out. I want to hook up my wii to an HDTV (Sony Bravia 32" 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV, KDL32L5000 - here is the link: http://www.walmart.com/Sony-Bravia-KDL32L5000-32-HDTV/ip/10926913  --)

If I buy this tv, the component cables, and switch my wii settings to widescreen and 480p will I get any lag when I'm playing games on wii. Lag is so annoying and I wouldn't be able to handle it. Also, there is no response time listed for that particular tv, and I heard that is a factor so if anyone knows what the response time is please let me know.

Thanks in advance for the help....I'm really clueless when it comes to this kind of stuff

You should not have any problems at all.

Ok.

Get the component cable for the Wii. Go on the Wii menu and settings. Switch to EDTV in resolution and Switch to 16:9 for the screen.

Then, switch the TV input to Component 1 and here it is! It's very simple and there isn't bugs.

Also, buy New Super Mario bros Wii. It kicks ass on a HDTV.

If you can find this model is very good and without lag! I have the 32" version and it rocks

I have a Bravia KDL32U2520, it seems pretty close to what you're planning on and I haven't noticed any problems with the Wii (of course with component cables).

@ Tecmo

I have a HDTV as well connected with component cables (not composite) have it on widescreen and 480p, I notice 0 lag at all.

The lag that is being talked about happens in all HDTVs. You are correct on response time for those things as well. But for the games where a ms is important (Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc) they have a calibrate option. So response time is not a big issue to look at.

god's sake, i have HDTV and component, and it's cool

why should there be any lag at all?

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

thanks for the help everyone...anyone else got some input I'd be happy to hear it
