Nintendo said the exact same thing, Wii 2 will not simply be an upgrade to HD.

There is no Wii2. Wii will move like the DS series. Slow progression, but something that will have value to consumers. I still want my Wii to sit between my Cable line and TV so I can have a Wii TV OS while watching TV :P.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
