I have 60gig B/C PS3 bought in September 2007. It has been working well so far but recently it froze twice when playing Demon’s Souls. I ignored it but I have a feeling that something is wrong. Don’t mind getting the PS3 slim in necessary but how about the protected game saves?

So do you think the console is going to brick and is there anything I can do?

Is there a way to copy the protected game saves?

You can save most game files by going to save folder and copying them onto a USB stick or any memory card you can put in your PS3. Some games doesnt allow you to copy save files just cause.

Not sure if you're PS3 will brick, mine froze a few times randomly (I have the 80gb B/C SKU) but its still running well now. Maybe just some back luck but if it does brick in the future sorry.

but freezing is normal espicially in Demon's Souls, it because DS is like an MMO , and your connection might lead to a freezing sometimes.

New Update allows Files swapping between Consoles, before one breaks that is.

I believe the safest way to backup is using their utility with an external hard drive, if you have a lot of stuff on there be sure to have a lot of space on the drive....like....=to 60GB free....And then restoring it to a new Ps3 is easy

always back up game saves on a memory stick just in case anyway , some games like killzone wont let you copy onto a stick

i have just been talking about freezing, odd that, i have the same problem but with all games i get freezing and then it flashes red and beeps at me, i also have a release 60gb PS3. I am selling mine on ebay.

Dude i bought the same model same timeframe. 60gb with backwards compatibility with motorstorm and resistance. my ps3 got ylod about 2 weeks ago and i was out of warranty so i paid 170 euros to get a replacement couse where i live there is nobody who can fix it. WATCH OUT

You can back up anything on your PS3 to an external HD or thumbdrive. I backed up all my save games when my cooling fan died and I had to send it in for repairs. The only issue I've seen is that the PS3 would only recognize backed up videos, pictures and music was if I backed them up in a folder labeled "videos", "pictures", and "Music"
