Forums - Gaming - EA stands by Tiger Woods said no other golfer can replace him.

I am just saying why does Tiger Woods have to be punished so severely? People are calling for blood basically. Just look at some some the American Football stars, they do a LOT worse than him and they are still idolized and make millions.

It doesn't matter what my values are. The fact of the matter is you don't have the right to force other people to live by yours. Why is it any of your business to other how to live? What gives you the right? What makes you think if you have the right to do that, others don't have the right to force the same on you? Would you like a world where Jack Thompson gets to tell you what video games you're allowed to play (none, not even Sonic, I'm sure) because more people agree with his moral standpoint?

And it sure as hell can be debated.  That's what Jack Thomspon was doing all that time - he was arguing that OUR moral views needed to coincide with his.  He was making the arguments you are making here.  You are no better than Jack Thompson, at this point.

All those that are claimging "personal life" doesn't matter and just citing that Woods is a golf legend which should be good enough...

Here is a thought...family values.

People that are brought up to the podium of society and are on cerial boxes need to uphold this.

He can go fuck a sheep for all I care and cheat on his wife all he wants, but there is no way I would want my kids thinking that its something that is ok to do.

Half of you are already ok with it...which is quite appaling.

here is another though..... raise you own damn kids.

If your worried that the messages in the media are bad for your childeren, take the time to talk about those issues with your kids, make sure they know what you feel and why you feel that way. While i agree that the star fucking and living our lives thru cleberties in modern socicity is repulsive, i don't care about the suposed "role models" effect on childeren.

Tiger woods is one of the best golfers in the world, if i have a question about golf he is the first person that i would ask. He's also a hump happy billionarie, who like many other famous and unkown peole alike, ignored his wedding vows and got a pile of strange. that makes him down near the bottom of the list of people i will ask for relationship advice.

See what i did there? i looked at the situation and took what i needed from it, and if more parents would teach their kids to do the same thing the world would be a better place.

You're not really making a stand here...just arguing that people are free to do whatever they want. When they clearly aren't. Government will probably step on your toes many times in your life...as they will in mine. I don't know if you realize that the institution of family is greater than government.

And these aren't my family values. If you don't see that what Woods did is a threat to the institution of family if its completely forgiven, then I don't know what else to say.

I won't have any issues raising my kids. But you really think the most of society has a critical eye like you and is able to do this? The moronic reality TV ratings which are through the roof state otherwise...

Why do we have these role models on cerial boxes in the first place if they aren't an influence on society?

What's the government got to do with this.  Extramarital affairs aren't illegal.  If he beat his wife I'd be at the front of the line yelling about how much he needsto be punished.  He did no such thing.

And again, the insitution of a family is just that.  A family.  If you aren't able to care for your own family then you don't deserve one and anything that happens to it is your fault.  Tiger Woods isn't respomsible for raising your kids, you are, and you're a sniveling worm if you can't own up that.  Of course, that's the problem with most "moral" people, they take no responsiblity for their role in the world and use "god" as a scape goat so that they never have to.  Such people have no business running my life, nor Tiger Woods's life, because they can't even run their own.

Why do we have these role models on cerial boxes in the first place if they aren't an influence on society?

Athletes get their images on ceral boxes for the same reason any other advertising exists: to sell a product.  No one in their right mind that actually makes any of the decisions regarding athletes on cereal boxes cares one iota about the influence on society outside of "will we make money?"  It's the parent's responsiblity and no one else's to make sure their kids get the right influences.  If they fail that, it's their failure alone.  No one is going to reshape society from the ground up just so a handful of people that can't cut it on their own are accomodated.  In fact, it's actually designed from the ground up specifically to take advantage of those very people.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

The media has blown the Tiger incident into enormous proportions just like H1N1.

There is a bloke in my road who regularly shags around and comes home to fantastic rows with his wife in front of the kids.
Not so sure about his short game tho

No one is irreplaceable !!!!

Argue all you want, Tiger Wood's name recognition has lost considerable selling power. I'm sure EA's only sticking with him if they can renegotiate what they're paying him. This whole thing will never go away. It will follow him around for the rest of his career, and what people think of him, i mean look at Bill Clinton. He will still be the biggest name in golf, but there will always be an aura of negativity of anything he's selling to a fair amount of the market.

I don't think what he did was right, i despise that kind of thing; doesn't this guy have enough already? I guess it's never enough for tiger.
