Forums - Sales - Beatles Rock Band has only sold "over 1 million units worldwide to date."

This may show the end of the music game "fad." Just like dance games and karaoke games have gone from boom to bust before.

Also, not surprisingly, the Wii version of the B:RB is the biggest seller. That may be because more older gamers have the Wii. (And before anyone gets upset with me about the "older gamer" line, remember, the Beatles broke up almost 40 years ago).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

My brother is going to order the limited edition soon. Can't wait!

More than likely he is talking til the end of September, or end of that quarter. Considering it is just a rep.

The guy just said "over a million" and this isn't a press release for sales so we have no idea how up to date it is. The game sold over half that in the US alone on 360 and Wii in its first month so I'd imagine it's well clear of a million. Over-tracked maybe but I'd still imagine no less than 1.5 worldwide

Yeah, people will probably get bored of these games in a few years, unlike games such as Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda who will always be regarded as classics.

There's a simple thing about music games based on legendary musicians: it doesn't matter how much the game helps the player, he'll never be like the original. Hence, it's much better to buy a CD collection instead, and listen to the real stuff.
More commercial and not so legendary musicians, with lots of easily satisfied fans, can most probably sell music games much better. Next time they'll release, say, "Michael Bublé vs. Robbie Williams feat. Avril Lavigne with Celine Dion and Puff Diddy cameos Rock Band" and it will sell like hot cakes.
