Forums - PC Discussion - VGC Official GOTY Voting Thread - PC

Last year the VGChartz Game of the Year Awards were the most popular articles on the site, so this year we're once again hosting a set of Game of the Year Awards. Just as with last year we're also going to include the winners selected by you, the forum users, as well as those selected by the site staff. So simply follow the instructions below to get voting:

1) You vote simply by listing your winners (there's a sample ballot below which serves as an example) and posting them in this thread, there are other threads out there for each console, handheld and overall.

2) Voting is open straight away, but you only have until the 17th of December to get your votes in, so make sure you vote before that deadline otherwise you'll miss out on your chance to influence the winning games. You may edit your votes up until that deadline - votes won't be counted until the threads are locked.

3) Only votes from users with more than 200 posts will be counted.

4) Staff votes don't count here - all staff should head over to the staff forums to vote.

5) Please try and pick as many games as possible, up to a maximum of 5 games in each category. Note that voting is weighted to give those listing more games a stronger voice. However, please don't vote for games you've never played.

6) The list of nominees below is not definitive, feel free to vote for games that haven't been listed as long as they were released in NA or Europe during 2009, but do not vote for games that were released in the US in 2008.

7) Please check out the sample ballot below. If you fail to follow it and your votes are not clear then they will not be counted. If you're uncertain about anything just make a post in this thread or send Naznatips, Machina or Torillian a wall post/pm.

Thank you for participating in the VGChartz Game of the Year Awards. Happy voting!

uhhh Assassin's Creed 2, Red Faction guerrilla and Batman Arkham Asylum aren't adventure games. Assassin's Creed 2 isn't even out on PC yet.

You should put Batman:AA in the "Best Action Game" section, and Red Faction:Guerrilla in the "best Action game" section.

You should include Machinarium, Ceville and Penumbra Overtorture for "Best Adventure Game". You can also put the Wallace & Gromit games as a franchise for the best adventure game too.

BTW: When did nearly all NA VG sites start to avoid the first words of the genre term "point and click adventure" as if the term itself was the curse of Monkey Island? Ah, I know, probably around the same time when someone announced (and everyone repeated) that point&click is dead and that the leftover of the genre term can be used for any game in a list or DB entry you want and you're not sure where it fits in.
I'm not complaining that adventure is used for almost anything today, but I wished the descriptive part "point and click" was still used for the appropriate games to distinct them from action adventures such as Batman AA or undersea adventures such as http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=6979&region=All
