Developers can make a PS3 game for around 1 million, nice to see numbers way of not that they are surprising.

TBH, it seems 13m is about the lower end of decent 360/PS3 games from what I have heard. With the high end probably being that 41m for KZ2.

The lower end for Wii is probably 2-4m with a high end of around 10-12m, which is about where I suspect galaxy will wind up considering the sheer amount of time the game has been in development. They had a playable demo at E3 06 so its been in development probably around 2 to 2.5 years.

You can count on the fact that Mario Galaxy has already been in early stages as early at the showing of the Gamecube in 2000/2001 (Mario 128 basic design etc would become the basic of Pikmin and further on Mario Galaxy)... However: Real development started i guess mid 2005 or something.

On-topic: You can bet on it that Mario Galaxy cost more then 15 mil btw... This is a game that HAS TO BE PERFECTED IN EVERY WAY TO ENSURE THE FRANCHISE REMAINS STRONG! Zelda and Metroid probable something close to that too!

And btw: 41 mil for Killzone?! Last time i checked that Dutch studio (I'm Dutch btw, was REALLY SMALL before Killzone)... Sony must have given em TONS OF CASH... But they are never gonna make a profit out of that! 41 mil equals?! +1 mil software sales. On a system that has an installed base around 1/6 of PS2's at the time it releases. (PS2 during Killzone 2 at 80 mil something... PS3 by end 2008... 15 mil something?!. Killzone 1 sold a little over 1 mil. Killzone 2 is NEVER gonna top that with lower Hardware sales...

If you are going to make a blanket statement declaring the entire thread wrong you should probably site a source.  Do you have one?

Do you even bother to read the original topic? That's a rhetorical question btw.

Actually.....It's pretty easy to find wholesale prices on video games at major retailers.

Retailers pay *about* $45.00 USD for a $60 game, and about $40.00 for a $50 game. So you can go from there on sale prices.

So are you telling me that half the difference between $50 and $60 dollars games goes to the retailers?

I think independent dealers might have to pay as much as $45 for a $60 game to distributors. The big chains pay less than that. Wholesale prices are usually listed by distributors who take their cut as well.
