Forums - Microsoft - 360 Owners: Lost Odyssey vs Final Fantasy XIII

ff13 should have nicer graphics and run better. they have been pouring money into it for years now, so it should. Lost Odyssey just didnt have the money and time put into it, that it deserved.
everything ive seen or read about ff13 so far continues to disappoint.

i like how u guys can judge a game that hasnt been released yet it really is quite amusing

If it's better than nothing, then FFXIII will be better, for me, than LO.

Why?

Because I've had more fun doing nothing, literally, floating in a numbing void, with no body.

LO was one of the very few games that I didn't just say "meh" about, I really hated every second of it. I hate, hate, hate it, and I'd rather eat a pile of horse this than ever play it again.

However, I recognize that there is a large fanbase who love the game, and I also recognize that for what it is, the game is actually pretty excellent. I just don't like what it is.

So, I'm not so much prejudging FFXIII, but rather, I know that if I spent the entire game in Lightning fap mode, there was no story, or battles, I would still have an infinately better time playing it, than I ever could have imagined having with Lost Odyssey.

So, don't group me in with the others.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Like what, exactly, could you please explain?...and keep in mind, I'm me, hehe, but I'll be good.

I find Lost Odyssey to be pretty horrid. The music is Uematsu's worst compositions since Rad Racer. The voice acting is so bad that it makes Saturday morning cartoons look like academy award winning performances. I tried switching over to the Japanese Voiceovers but to no avail. It's not just the voice acting but the atrocious diolouge and story that made me want to sniff arsenic.

Graphically it's amazing I mean it really holds up next to FF13 which is saying something considering it's 2 years older. But the experience is boring and GOD Jansen has to be the worst character ever. I'm deep into the third disk and have a feeling it's not going to get any better. If FF13 isn't a better game then it will be the flop of the century.

Moral of the story? You may not be able to trust the reviewers but that doesn't mean that you can random kids on forums not to overhype the hell out of a few niche titles.

I thought Jansen was very funny. Great spell caster too! I thought it was a great game also. Reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy X in certain ways. Hard to explain reallly, just that feeling I remember. But anyway, to each their own! :)

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

The best part of LO was the thousand years of dream. The story from those text was FAR more moving than anything the main game threw at me. I still enjoyed the game but man those dreams were something else and made the game so much more compelling for me.

I wasn't a big fan of the music of LO, just felt a tad generic to me. XIII is pretty meh too so far, especially the theme songs so that's a lose-lose for me.

Can't comment on the other until I get the game, but I feel I'd like the gameplay of XIII more as the pacing is faster.

For those prefering the story in FFXIII... i'm just skeptical of how much of it they actually know...that or it's a biased statement.

LO has an approach to story that I liked a lot.
FF has a developpment time that I found to be beyond ridiculous.

So my preference right now goes to LO overall. Though i'm sure FF will end up as the better game, i'm afraid the story will be mostly forgettable...

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

I've played and finished Lost Oddyssey and I can tell that was one of the best JRPG I witnessed. I have started with JRPG's not too long ago (like 2 years). FFXIII will be epic, for sure, now one can't compare it yet with LO since its hasn't been released. But it will most likely surpass LO in terms of sales thanks to the hype and reputation and probably graphics-wise too. I predict a tie in the sounds and music area :)

It very clearly specifies in the thread title this is for 360 owners. It's also in the Microsoft forum. Obviously you should not be posting in here.
