Forums - - Eurogamer: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Review receives a 9/10

Looks really good, but I'm iffy about no combat at all. I'd like to be able to at least shake them off me somehow, but I guess I'll wait and see how it feels.

That you can do. Infact you must do this to survive...

The game is basically a really innovative adventure/puzzle game with some intense moments of dread and panic.

one more question disolitude, i read an impression at neogaf that said this game was more of an evolution of the Point and Click adventure genre than survival horror, would you agree?

No...do not agree.

Who ever wrote that prolly thinks Resident Evil 5 and Dead Space are survival horror.

Part of it is an adventure game but even that has a very unsettling atmosphere. And the other part, once the city changes is a..."get the hell out of here/run for your life"...which is pure dread. Its a lot more survival horror than anything in recent memory.

In the adventure part of the game, there are point and click elements to puzzles...but the game is never on rails or anything. You are free to go where you want and you get to do a lot of things like shake cans looking for keys, use the cell phone camera to uncover clues...etc.

Other little inventive things like a new door openeing mechanic and a really curious questions you are being asked by a psychiatrist between levels make the game impossible to categorize as point and click game. Like you are pointing and clicking, but not for the reasons you normally would in a click adventure game.

Game is done in a really interesting style. It seems like its a VHS tape you are playing as there are lots of rewinds, grain on film...etc

-Talk about innovation! Game does many innovative things using controls, psychiatry sessions, cell phone and Wii speaker on the controller. From the opening logo screen which says "This game collects information about you and is essentially playing you"... you get the idea that this is not a game that is going to play it by the numbers. A++ for this point. Worth buying just to experience some cool stuff.

I totally agree with this. I just played it for 1 hr and I was really impressed. I love how you control the flashlight, and how they use the Wii speaker with the phone is really cool. I called home and 911 and listening all the stuff from the Wii Speaker is fantastic, why more games doesn't make use of it like that?

I will play it at night, but right now it's totally worth playing. The intro is great too.

I have the game now and just got 3 hrs into it, its not a point and click adventure , maybe that persona tried to reference the action when you see an item and you have to make motion actions to get it(open a door , a box, etc) ;i have played all the other SH and let me tell you its quite different in style and in pace , its very intuitive, really liking the "always watching you" profile , like when the psychiatrist puts you different test and depending on your actions the atmosphere changes or some colors in houses, clothes ,etc.

The graphics are pretty good , the lighting FX wooowwww , these guys deserve another opportunity to make the best out of why, the game has Zero loading times and screens , you can call a tell there is a lag when you open a door and consider that loading but it insignificant less than half a second so you will not notice , the environments are pretty rich in atmosphere, signs and posters you can read perfectly .

The chase sequences that you have seen are pretty tense moments in the game and you dont follow a linear pat to the "end  of nightmare" so its pretty intense, apart from these points the premise its the same as in the first game, try to get sheryl back but the process and situations you'll find  are completely different so in all im trying to say buy this game im pretty satisfied and depending on what i have seen has a pretty high replay value depending on your answers when youre at the psychiatrist couch.

Pretty good game overall , if a have to give an advanced review ill give it a 8.8 or a 9.

This game deserves to be considered among Wii top 10.

I watched a friend of mine play this and it looked pretty interesting. I didn't see too much of it, but what I saw I liked. The lack of weapons and being able to confront the creatures is kind of a shame, but it does heighten the tension, I think. It looked pretty good and the controls seemed to be fluid.

Bah!
