They are not actually talking about single battery run. They are referring to the end of rechargeable battery cycle. What they are intentionally misleading is that the battery will only die after 5000 or so charges. Which should last most people the length of the consoles life.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

i have no idea about the cap of Reloads, but with a max. of 5k recharges, you could play 9 Years non-stop.

I'm sure buying a new dualshock 3 every 6 months would be cheaper than buying new batteries each week.

Ever heard of battery chargers? ;)

This article has a point, but it's still f'in stupid to tell someone not to buy a PS3 over this.

PS: BTW Yahoo did not write the article. It was actually written by smartmoney.com, Yahoo just hosts it.

Like I said then its a piece of terrible journalism, thats using the term journalism in it's loosest possible fashion.

One thing I did wonder as I've never looked into it but do the controllers have built in protection to prevent overcharging? It's never a problem for me because I charge one controller while I play with the other usually but I did wonder if you can overcharge them and detroy the battery life in the long term (like you can with most rechargable batteries I hasten to add).

i have had my ps3 controller for 3 years now it has not died on me yet lol, i am sure i have saved lots of money from not having to buy batteries.
