Forums - Gaming - Dear Square Enix, make Takeharu Ishimoto your prime composer

Thank you! Finally someone else who understands how awesome Takeharu Ishimoto is! TWEWY and Crisis Core are among Square Enix's best soundtracks!

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

Square Enix has a host of composers, all hired on a game by game bases. They are not tied to the company by contract.

If anyone should be tied to the company as a symbol, it would be Koichi Sugiyama. Simply because he does the music for Dragon Quest. Possibly the most recognizable music in Japan. And he's been doing that music consistently for every Dragon Quest title for 24 years.

@g-value; how the hell can you possibly say Uematsu is overrated, especially only citing "some tracks" from 10 as proof. Have you played Final Fantasy 6? 9?

Yes I have (only 15 hours in FFVI though). I still think he is overrated. Yasunori Mitsuda (the person who composed the music from Xenogears, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross) is FAR better then Uematsu IMO. He should be Square-Enix's prime composer. Also, the reason why I brought up Hamauzu's music from FFX is because I feel that FFX had the best music in the FF series with some of the best tracks from FFX being composed by Hamauzu himself.

Uematsu is overrated.  I admit, he's a good composer and I listen to his stuff just like everyone else.  But he's theJohn Williams of gaming music.  Everyone known who he is because of the works he's tiedto, but not every song he's written is holy.  About half the stuff he writes is pure gold, while the other half is exactly as its meant to be, background filler music that you skip when listening to it outside of the game.

When listening to other artists works such as Koichi Sugiyama, Yasunori Mitsuda, Yoko Shimomura, Yoko Kanno, Jun Ishikawa, Kenji Yamamoto....you don't skip tracks when listening to these artists.  All their songs are good.

Did Hamauzu compose Seymour's battle theme? If it was Uematsu, then Uematsu is better. Otherworld and Seymour's battle theme are the best songs from the game.

Uematsu did both. But I don't like Seymour's theme so............

Then Uematsu is better :P

Good for you.

This track alone makes Yasunori Mitsuda miles away better then Uematsu

Frog FTW.

Here is another masterpiece from Yasunori Mitsuda from Chrono Trigger

Comparing Mitsuda to Uematsu with Chrono Trigger isn't fair.  Two of the songs Uematsu 'wrote' were parodies or even direct copies of other songs.

Though its been stated that this happened because Uematsu was going through a 'mid-life crisis' at the time.  Also why Mitsuda got the job to do the music for Chrono Trigger.

Comparing Mitsuda with Uematsu with ANY game he composed it unfair actually. Mitsuda >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Uematsu. The music in Chrono Trigger would be much worst if Uematsu composed the music for it. It would still be good, just that as godly as the Chrono Trigger music we all know and love.
