Forums - Microsoft - Best Buy: 360 Elite + 42" Plasma + Avatar game = $700 O.O

@MAFKKA

Thanks for clearing that up. I read about it very early this year and didn't quite follow up the outcome.

That explains why plasma TV sales are up as they are now being "given away" to clear out the current power-hungry stock before spring.

About August this year plasma made up 12% of all Flat screen HD Tvs sold. I am not sure if that is world wide or just europe.

Still, depending on who you talk to in the know-how, it would seem plasma is being phased out.

Someone mentioned Panasonic but the 100million they invested in plasma was for the Indian and emerging asian markets.

I think this bundle will help MS a little more than the PS3 bundle at Best Buy. IMO most will see a $250 difference in price and buy the cheaper one.

lol...anyone that wants to write about hardcore gamers being elitist people needs to look no futher than this post.

lol you should have seen the deals in black friday, 52" SONY BRAVIA LCD 1080p for like $349...

its crazy, my dad almost caved, even though we already have 2 hd tvs.

A. Burn in's still occur. It usually happen within the first week or month or something like that. If you put the brightness up. To reduce the chances of burn ins you should watch it during the "break in" period with the brightness a little lower.

B. People arent going to walkin a best buy and see a 360 tv deal and ps3 tv deal then decide. These deals are probably selling to people who know what they want already and best buy is just trying to win their business over other retailers.

If you want to get the TV, get the TV. It's your money and you can do what the hell you want with it. Why try so hard defending yourself.

Yes, 720 HD TVs are being phased out and and google any reliable electronics site and you will find plasma uses a lot more electricity.

The EU are even considering a bill to outlaw plasma TV due to the energy consumption.
That's another reason most manufactuers are playing it cool on plasma.

LOL

I've made 3 (now 4) posts in this thread.

1. Posted the link and said great deal.

2. Said generic comment about Plasma TVs not really having a ghosting issue anymore. Someone else said they still do on low end models and I didn't reply because I don't really know if this model does or does not. However, I did say that overall LCD is better than plasma.

3. Said its only a $350 TV in the end, so that's a great deal regardless of Plasma vs LCD or 720p.

How is that tyring so hard to defend myself?

As for the rest of your post, thank you for allowing me to spend my money my way. I have had the same 32" Wide Screen CRT 480i TV for the last 5+ years. So, a $350 42" 720p plasma is a BIG jump up for a very small cost. i.e. GREAT DEAL!

Plus, this thread just shows how little many of you actually understand HD and resolution settings.

1. At 42", its quite difficult to tell the difference between a 720p signal and 1080p. You really need 46"+ to begin to see improvements.

2. ITS A F'ING BRAND NEW 42" HD TV FOR ONLY $350 FOR CHRISTS SAKE!

3. Most or your precious HD games or in 720p or less native. lol.

As for the EU, I'm not there, so I don't give an F. I guarantee you this plasma uses a lot less energy than my CRT. Net gain for me eitherway.

lol...Im glad you posted this.

I may drive down to Buffalo for this and few other things.

a bit off topic, but if you get the tv, you should get the composite cables for your wii. I think they were definatly worth it.

Yeah definitely buying the better cables for my Wii when I get a new TV. Even if it isn't this one. Still deciding if I want to spend $700.

it's a good deal considering the tv sells for 600$ itself.
