Forums - Sony - Playstation 3 + Canada = Fail

So I went at my local Futureshop today (Futureshop is owned by Bestbuy and is exactly the same). Futureshop is Canada's largest consumer electronics retailer.

They have this Buy 2 get 1 free deal on all games at 69,99$ or less.

I go in the PS3 section (which is half the size of the 360 one btw) and I can't find anything of what I went for.

No Killzone 2 nor InFamous. Oh and they don't have Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls or, you know, anything that could make the PS3 sale... Of course they have games like Genji, Haze and Lair but come on.

Is it the same everywhere else in Canada?

Oh yeah and the PS3 is 349,99$ here.

I ended up buying Prince of Persia, Red Alert 3 and Tomb Raider Underworld for a total of 40$. I tried PoP and I like it a lot so far.

It is the exact same in the US mate. I imagine all big box retailers are like that. Although, infamous and killzone should be in stock normally, but probably are sold out due to holiday demand. Sony is generally pretty terrible at keeping popular games in stock, at least here in the states, I don't know about other places.

I have a feeling it's because they're selling out... I always thought PS3 was relatively more successful in Canada then the X360 but only because I know a ton of people with PS3s and noone with X360s

Over here in Europe, all three consoles seem to get similiar shelf space.

With the exception of the handhelds, in which the PSP gets very little.

if it has big price it is doing good

in Europe PS3 is catching up if not the same shelf space as 360 and Wii has like loads!
DS has about same as HD twins but usually PSP has little to nothing or isnt stocked lol

They are pritty good at stocking games here

Amazon my friend they always have stock unless of course they are sold out.

IN the best buy near were I live (NY) they have all the latest games and some sleeper hits always in stock. I'm pretty sure it has to do with management of each store in the chain.

I just visted Futureshop in St. John's today. Perhaps you were looking at the 250GB PS3 because the 120GB PS3's were $299 there.

And I wasn't looking for any games to purchase in particualr but I did notice that Demon's Souls and Killzone 2 were there. Though I'm fairly certain I did not see Valkyria Chronicles there, as its boxart does standout.

^Oh yeah I think you're right about the 250GB PS3.
