Forums - Nintendo - Looking for some Wii suggestions

Edit* I have now joined the white side. We happened to find the last Wii in the store and it was behind the box of a crappy nerf shooting game :P

If anybody has a Costco in their area, we found the Wii accessory bundle which included a black Wii-mote, nunchuck, and motion plus for $60. At other stores it's $50 for the Wii-mote and motion plus combo and another $20 for the nunchuck.

----

So it looks like the family has sat on the sidelines long enough and have now decided to get a Wii. I've been keeping an eye on things, but I'm curious to know if there is anything I could be missing and if you might know of any good deals on things.

-For the Wii itself, the Walmart Wii and $50 giftcard speical is looking pretty good. Unless Amazon or another store puts up a better deal, I think we'll be heading to Walmart tomorrow or within the next week.

-From Toys R Us, they have a buy one get one half off special and free shipping so I've ordered New Super Mario Brothers Wii and Mario Kart Wii. I would have liked to get Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but the family was more interested in Mario Kart. Also, at the store they only had SSBB and online they only had NSMB :P

-For a second controller, it'll probably be Amazon for saving a few dollars on the remote and nunchuck, free shipping, and no tax. There might be a good deal on the remote+nunchuck+motion plus somewhere else so if the family member who spotted the deal was incorrect, Amazon it is. However, if that deal is true and we get a great deal on the combo, then we might as well go for Sports Resort for the second motion plus and the game so maybe that's where the $50 gift card will come in.

-One of them wants Wii Fit Plus and we'd probably get that wherever it's cheapest or maybe just wait a while.

With that, I think I'll have satisfied the wants of the family and gotten a good deal. So what do you think? Have any details on sales or anything? When it comes to the more hardcore games (I'd like to see how the remote works in a game like COD4: Reflex or Darkside Chronicles for example), I'm just going to stick with renting.

Not even just a Wii bit of suggestions?

What type of genres do you like?

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Don't really care, I'd like to see what's there.

But I'm also interested if anybody knows of any other deals (US).

If someone in your household used to play Dr. Mario or Tetris, you should definitely buy the points card and get them.
Dr. Mario is 1000 points and Tetris is 1200 points. So, you might have to buy 2x point cards.

The Mario evergreen titles are a no brainer. NSMBWii, SSBB, Kart, etc.

Fire Emblem if you're into tactical rpg.

Zelda, damn thing won't ever go on sale.

RRR TV Party if you have 4 people playing. Game is not good for single player. One of those title that you can use for parties, certainly.

Uhhh, yeah, that's all for now. Others will tell you what to get once you let us know what sort of games you're looking for.

These two are awesome!I love Darkside Chronicles.

You should try No More Heroes, it worth 20$.Madworld is in the same way but the story mode is shorter and the multi is getting boring rapidly.

Muramasa The Demon Blade...

Actually, if you are looking for a good party game, I heard Dokapon Kingdom is not too bad.

I heard Tenchu: Shadow Assassins just dropped to $10 if you want to get that.

Resident Evil 4,Madworld, and The Conduit are ~$15 if those may interest you. I would recommend RE4.

Several people on this site have enjoyed Rune Factory Frontier. If you like Farmville on Facebook, this takes it to a whole new level I guess. VGC Review have it a 8.6 and it lasts a long time.

Bully: Scholarship Edition is like a T-rated Grand Theft Auto and is fairly long.

No More Heroes is a hate it or love it game. I liked it, and it should be at around $15 now (8.0/ 10).

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is definitely a good choice. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is not easy to pick up and play if your not a traditional gamer but it is great. Mario Kart Wii is an EXCELLENT choice on your part. I heard Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex is good (7.8/10) but COD: World at War had tighter controls.

-Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is good if you are a fan of the series, and can put up with some flaws (repitition)

-Madden 09/ Smackdown vs Raw 2010 are good if youlike tose things. Godfather: Blackhand Edition is good.

House of the Dead Overkill is like $9.50-$11 on Amazon but it is very short, and way too much cursing.

Castlevania Judgment is also a decent fighting game. Wii Sports Resort is family friendly and Ben 10 is actually pretty solid for the children, although it is probably short (IDK 7 hours?) Klonoa is a good platformer, but it is about 6 hours. Mario Sports games are safe bets.

Hope that helps somewhat. I could tell you more details about some if you want...

Yea, I'm familiar with a number of these games.

Definitely going to be spending some time at the rental store if we go through with getting it.

Here, a Wii title that Namco Bandai has chosen to localize instead of ToV PS3. Surely it's a quality Wii title, right?? *_*

Oh wow, if you have a costco's near you, they have the black Wiimote, nunchuck, and motion plus pack for $60. They look really sexy.

We also got pretty lucky too, last Wii at Wal-Mart :P
