SO4 besides the battle system is pretty much a copy and paste of SO3, thats why i kinda disliked it, tri-ace got lazy.

I played Star Ocean 3 before playing any of the others, but that was only for a short amount of time.

The first SO I played a lot of and beat was the first Star Ocean on PSP.

Well seeing how everyone bashed this on 360, I'm waiting for it to be "awesome on the PS3."

Well that's rather short-sighted.

I bashed it while is was exclusive to 360, and I will undoubtedly continue to bash it regardless of its inclusion to my preferred console.

Perhaps the people here excited for it simply didn't have a 360 while others like me, who have one but prefer the PS3's library, legitimately bashed the game for simply not liking it... It really isn't far fetched. No need to try and make a hypocrit out of everyone here.

Some people are far too paranoid about this stuff.

A lot of people bashed the game without even playing it. They did it soly because it wasn't multiplat.

Who in particular and how do you know?

Specify how much qualifies as 'a lot.'

Otherwise, what you're saying and your presence here is just absurd.

Actually, I'm in the same boat.

@Xxain: I can't speak for him, but personally I thought the dialogue was incredibly weak. Most notably whenever we were about to set foot on a new venture, or when a character (EDGE) was feeling down... every single character (never failed) had a cheesy, motivating, one-liner to add with bizzare enthusiasm.

The characters I thought were bland, each seemingly having only but one concern (with the exception of all of them having concern over what was going on in the plot), making the one dimensional. One character, in particular, Meracle, was uncomforting.

The story was pretty standard. I'm not going to knock it. If you like Sci-fi, you may like it. I'm not a huge fan.

The battle system was great but was terribly marred by an unresponsive, unnecessarily complicated targeting system. That was rather unfortunate, because it was really fun.

The voice acting was just terrible throughout. Some laughably bad, while others were just average or bad.

The graphics were fine with the exception of the annoying bobble-heads and the inexplicably brightness throughout the game.

It wasn't the worst of RPGs, I just had fairly high hopes for it. And to say that I was let down, is a huge understatement.

I'm sure many people love it, and that's great, it just wan't for me... and I'm a huge jRPG fan.

The thing is, if Star Ocean 4 had a better localiztion (and better targeting) then it would have easily become one of the best rpgs this gen. We get that with the International version (other then the targeting). I'm pretty sure PS3 SO4 will be alot more popular then 360 SO4 because they don't have to deal with the horrible voice acting and dialogue. They can just switch to the japanese voices.

I certainly would've enjoyed it a lot more, though I would have preffered they had just gotten the english voice 'right' the first time. For me, japanese isn't a good alternative to poor english acting. Both are not acceptable for a Western release, especially for a higher profile RPG.

They are going to fix the targeting system in this version (International) if I remember correctly.
