Marvin Gaye. His collection of great songs was just timeless.

I don't know if I like Gaye or Stevie Wonder better but damn, they're both excellent choices.

Too bad Marvin's dad didn't feel the same way.

Meh, I met Stevie Wonder the other day. I waved at him across the street and he just stared right through me and carried on as if he never even saw me! Ignorant bastard.

You guys have named some of the greatest of all time. Along with some of the ones already, I like Al Green, too.

Mary J. Blige, Maxwell, and D'Angelo (Hasn't had an album since '98 but he was amazing) are future legends, in my opinion. I try to avoid R&B by anyone younger than 25. Generally speaking, it just feels "off".

Great choices.  I prefer old school R&B over the new stuff.  Also D'Angelo is working on a new album which should come out soon.

^Awesome!! I think I'm going to fire up Last.fm and listen to some classics. I'm in the mood for that, right now.

All-Time top 3:
- Aretha Franklin
- Stevie Wonder
- Marvin Gaye

Only modern artists who can compete with the legends from the 60s/70s imo:
- the one and only Erykah Badu
- The Roots (I know they're commonly considererd as HipHop band, but in my boook they're a brilliant R&B/Soul band)

Rihanna XDDD AND BEYONCE! *displeased*
