Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy XIII NA,EU theme song VS Japan theme song

I dunno about anyone else but the clip I get when I click on Leona Lewis is some gawd awful RnB electronic thing by Jason Derulo.

The Japanese one sounds rather insipid to me, I only managed to listen to half of it.

Musically I find My Hands to be far superior. As is Leona Lewis' vocals, her range and emotion is incomparable to the Japanese singer's. Lyrically the song is completely wrong, and in the end if one can comprehend the language it completely detracts from all the other qualities that would make the song entirely appropriate for the game. I'm not a RnB fan and I don't like the vocal gymnastics that every RnB singer throws into their songs. But at least this song doesn't have too much of it, and it isn't pure RnB either. If they take out the opening verse it would make it a little less ridiculous, though if they show Lightning in the shower while the song is playing...

Ultimately it isn't the song that will sell the game and that's a good thing.

The japanese song is much better, it sounds more like final fantasy and is emotional stronger. What a bad choice to chose Leona Lewis or even to chose another song, why the fuck had square enix made a western version? I really like the japanese songs of the previous ff games like melodies of life or even 1000 words in english was good, but now to change radically the song is a very bad choice i think. I hope that we can play in japanese with subtitles and the japanese song...

am I getting riled up over some random song that'll play in the beginning or end credits? no

my opinion? They are about equal in awesomeness!

First put videos up with the SONGS in the game....then we'll see

its useless saying which song is better without seeing an official video from S-E using them in the game

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I like the epic orchestral symphony music from the japanese version...
watch one of the japanese advertisements and you will be in awe.
Leona Lewis song sounds half-assed to be in a FF game.

Both songs are horrible imo. I guess I will be muting my TV when these songs come up.

They just could asked Leona Lewis sing a music written specially for FFXIII. Her voice is beatiful, the only problem with her song is that lyrics just don't fit the game. My god, she talks about Make Up in middle of her music.

Exactly my point, understanding the lyric makes the music ten times worst! And I already dislike it to start with. The Jpop singer is like most other Jpop singer but at least I can listen to the music and pretend she is singing something poignent about the game.

FFVIII had a fantastic theme song from Wong Faye that had decent tune, GOOD lyric and wonderful if generic melody. I wish all game music could be given as much thought as that!

The Japanese one is soooo gay!
Imagine driving with your car and stopping in front of your friends house
while this music is playing...

I don't really care if a song sounds gay, so long it is good.

Anyway compared to older themes like FFVIII (sorry Faye Wong fan) FFXIII's horrible.
