Forums - Sony - Any system sellers or "game changers" left for the PSP? Can it catch DS?

PSP will never be even close to the DS

I think Sony needs to move on and fast. I love the current PSP, but even in the Go, they are still working with dated tech.

IMO Sony needs to worry about getting a PSP2 to the market next year, and it has to come in multiple Skus, and most importantly one of them has to be a phone. If they do not get something to this nature out, then the Playstation brand name should leave Sony portable devices. They would do well to make games that would work on the Sony Ericson phones, if they wanted to go that route.

How much more dated is it than its competitors?  I heard Apple touting their iPod is more advanced than the PSP.

No not really , i just hope Sony's next psp is piracy proof.

PSP 3000 and Go! are already piracy proof.

Many people here in Brazil is moving to DS because of this =/. DS is very popular with kids  in US / EU, PSP will have to follow one of 2 routes:\

1-Make a simple and cheap device, to appeal to casual market.

2-Make a Phone, to dominate the gaming area in the Phone Market. This should make Sony Ericsson Brand more Popular without hurting Playstation Brand. The problem is that Sony Ericsson is a joint-venture from Sony 50/50 Ericsson. So Sony might not like to give a "big piece of the pie" to Ericsson. They have to negociate this.

When was the psp ever considered a contender to the DS?
or better yet, who still thinks it can? It's just doing its own thing now that doesn't mean it's failed 50mil+ is nothing to hark at, that is quite an achievement and folly to anyone who thinks otherwise.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.
