Forums - Sony - Any system sellers or "game changers" left for the PSP? Can it catch DS?

On here, there is talk of "killer apps" which are "system sellers" or "gamer changers".  It is a game that comes out that makes such a difference that it tips the tide and results in a system outselling another one.  So, in regards to a game like this, is there any games due out or any other system seller or other type of title that could come out that would result in the PSP surpassing the DS in sales?  Or is it too late?

If it is too late, then doing a looking back, why did the PSP happen to fail to catch the DS?  Also, how important are "game changers" or "system sellers" to a console outselling another one, and how much does this decrease over time?

The question is moot for the fact that no one, never, ever, can think the PSP has even the slightest chance of catchin up to the DS. So, there's nothing that could turn the tide, it's just like that and it's accepted for it to be. That doesn't mean the PSP has done a bad job in the market, quite the contrary, 50M+ is an excellent achievement, but it's not catching up to the DS.

But to answer the question, I think the biggest titles in the coming future are for now Kingdom Hearts BBS and Final Fantasy Agito XIII

if only it was competing with the ds

I think the PSP will be on the way out in the next year or so...

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep might moves some PSP's, but that's about it.

Not a prayer but It will sell some units with Kingdom Hearts and MGS Peace Walker

Game changers probably not, but as far as system sellers they have Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Metal Gar Solid: Peace Walker, and Final Fantasy Agito XIII.

Nah, the DS would probably cross 80% marketshare at this rate. PSP already has a grave.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Birth by sleep Is probably the biggest game for the system thus far. Or at least for me. Though for the second question, I REALLY REALLY doubt that it will ever catch up.

No not really , i just hope Sony's next psp is piracy proof.

I think Sony needs to move on and fast. I love the current PSP, but even in the Go, they are still working with dated tech.

IMO Sony needs to worry about getting a PSP2 to the market next year, and it has to come in multiple Skus, and most importantly one of them has to be a phone. If they do not get something to this nature out, then the Playstation brand name should leave Sony portable devices. They would do well to make games that would work on the Sony Ericson phones, if they wanted to go that route.
