I still can't believe a thread was started about Kid Rock's new album, and how good it is. I thought I was having a nightmare last night.

Will you please just come out and tell us you were kidding all along?

Some people will like Kid Rock, some people will like Mariah Cary, some will like Metallica, some will like Fallout Boy, some will like Pearl Jam, some will like Tea Party...

People will like anything. Though it's fun to mock (see pink unicorn shirt comment), it's also not exactly relevant or meaningful. Just a time kill.

It's nolt about mocking people, as I have no problem with people who have preferences for other music than I.

It's that it's insulting to see people disgrace something I hold so close to my heart. Another poster has already expressed what I feel, but I'll try to put it different words.

Music is a beautiful means by which humans can communicate. It is meant to express a feeling or idea in either a different way than words enable (or "enhance words", ie. singing lyrics), or in a way that written or spoken language simply doesn't allow. Music is something sacred that should be cherished.

I simply lose all respect when we have someone like Kid Rock cranking out album after album with the sole purpose of taking advantage of the self concious, ignorant masses. If you want to buy it that's fine. If you want to listen to it, that's fine. If you want to talk about it, please don't refer to it as music, or as art, or anything, because that is disrespectful.

These are my opinions, so you don't need to tell me that if you respond to this post.

P.S.  My name is indeed supposed to read Avalanche.  It was about 1996, and I really loved Command and Conquer Red Alert.  I was going to make a screen name for Westwood Chat, and my favorite hockey team was the Colorado avalanche.  I think they only allowed 10 characters and Avalanche0-9 were already taken, so I just did Avalach, since, proved by you, it still read as avalanche.  It's stuck ever since as my online gaming identity.
