So Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is an example of gaming at its best?

It's a game that parodies other games that parody movies. So yep, Game of the Forever!

And I am one of the 60,000 people who have it.  Sweet.

When I quote you, the line automatically goes closer to where I'd like it.

Well would you look at that.

It breaks off one side of the inboxes though, and I don't think it would be good to get these papers mixed up.

Oxy, you're missing the point. He's not referring to parodies as in the Mad magazine "Today we make roadkill of The Road Warrior" things, even if the video choice made it seem like that. He meant lighthearted takeoffs of those works.

Contra is like Rambo, but even more aggressive and manic.

Doom is Dante's Inferno, if it was more like the last third of Aliens.

Star Fox is all the flight battles of the Original Star Wars Trilogy, just with even more crazy enemies than the AT-ATs (which was a flight battle because of the snowspeeders).

Mario is in a variation of Wonderland, in that everything is whimsical and follows its own rules instead of the rules of reality.

So he's saying video games are fun when they don't take themselves seriously?

That being able to pull the fun out of the content and give the player that is when games are at their best?

I totally disagree, video games are serious business.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Why can't we have serious stories with comedy mixed in like Tales or Persona? And even Zelda: TWW. That's the best way to do things...

He didn't mean serious at all. He meant being nothing but serious. While critics talk of the epic story of Gears, the gamers love the over the top action, and the multiplayer, which is of course almost no story.

proving once again that mal knows nothing about games.

He knows about business, but not about games.

Well, I kinda agree, The Legend of the Mystical Ninja 64 (Gambare Goemon) is one of the best games ever made, and that game is full of parodies and don't take itself serious. The same with Conker's Bad Fur Day.
