Take Two revenue for GTA IV, January 05th:

  1. Xbox 360 --> 497 million USD
  2. PS3 --> 413 million USD
  3. PC --> 40 million USD

I doubt Take-Two wants to pass on half a billion USD revenue just for fun.

Of course not, unless they made a deal with Sony

Unless Sony coughed up near half a billion, it's unlikely any such deal was struck.

you know that if it wasn't released  360 then PS3 GTA 4 revenues would be alot more cause GTA would have made 360 users buy a PS3

Also,even after being PS3's version behind the 360's sales by over 1.5m,both the revenues are not far.This because they get more money from game sales in europe cause games are expensive there and PS3 is populer there too

who cares? THIS is NOT the case. The majority of the fans of the GTA franchise are on Xbox 360 now. They don't want to argue with more than 7 million customers on the Xbox 360. This is as likely as Metal Gear Solid Rising being a Xbox 360 exclusive.

And I still want to see that link

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

And how are you talking of flop,you should be saying it didn't sell well not flop.A GTA game is never going to flop,aleast in this Generation.

GTA: Chinatown Wars would like a word with you. Actually probably a couple of words considering how many times it has been released.

Only if they want to go bankrupt.

how?

You know how. This is utterly ridiculous.

i would agree if you said they would lose revenue but how the hell would they be bankrupt?

In this day and age, one flop can make or break a company - Particularly when we're talking about such a massive franchise as GTA. Releasing it on one console, and the one where their previous game sold worse at that would make their stock go to hell, their revenue would be butchered, and if they had as big of a budget as they did for GTA4 they may not even turn a profit on the game. It would be an absolutely horrible choice and it's about as likely as the next Mario being PS3-exclusive.

What?

Comparing Mario a Nintendo first party games to a third party game that has been  an exclusive before is complete of topic.WTF?

And talking of this day and age,yes a flop can break a company but not Rockstar.One side you are saying its massive and the other side you are talking as if its a small game franchise which if flops will make the company go down.

And how are you talking of flop,you should be saying it didn't sell well not flop.A GTA game is never going to flop,aleast in this Generation.

Also if a big game developer like Rockstar go down,may will come to support it as it is one of the best ever.

And how will their revenue get butchered,360's version of GTA 4 even after selling 1.5 million more than the PS3 version,only had $50m revenue more than PS3's version.If it was exclusive to PS3 then it would have taken alot more revenue as many more people would have bought the PS3 and GTA 4 on it as it is a system seller.

One more thing,the engine's cost's have already been recouped,even if they sold 1m copies of the next GTA.They would have a profit

Rockstar don't give a shit, quite frankly, that GTA4 sold 1,5 million more on 360. They give a shit that it sold 7,32 million on the 360. You seem to think that everyone who bought GTA4 would magically pick up a PS3 and buy the next GTA for that if it was exclusive, which isn't how it works.

Would GTA4 have gotten better sales on PS3 if it was exclusive? Sure, but not by that much. The people who bought it on 360 would simply not buy it. A few would get a PS3 to play it, but hardly 7,32 million - 1,5 million tops, I'd say. I know I wouldn't buy a PS3 just to play GTA4 if it had been exclusive.

Stop dancing around the subject - What you are suggesting makes absolutely no sense and you should know this yourself as well. You're suggesting that Rockstar would suddenly say goodbye to 7 million potential sales because of some imaginary deal you have yet to provide any proof for (atleast not that I have seen). This thread is a joke.

I forgot to write GTA won't flop on consoles.

Anyways for the Chinatown sales,we don't know how much it sold online.And even If it didn't I didn't expect it to sell much cause it was never a true GTA as it had up-down view.And it was not made for PSP,it was only because DS version flopped,so they decided to put it on PSP.

And then the PSP version flopped hard too. I understand why it happened, and in a thread related to it I would gladly give you a lengthy explanation for the reasons I think it did. I was just pointing out that not even the GTA name is enough to guarantee sufficient sales. Home consoles might end differently than the hand held consoles, but I am not certain.

yes,that is how it works.What do you think that 360 would have sold so much without all the 3rd Party exclusive it got like Bioshock,Mass Effect,etc that MS paid for.

If all the game that were exclusive to PS2 were exclusive to PS3 this gen then 360 would be suffering like last age.And not many of those 360 GTA fans would have purchased a 360 first of all.

And yeah,PS3 version sales would have atleast been 1.5-2m more than they are right now.And as europe where PS3 is popular and games are expensive had gotten these sales then PS3 revenues would have significantly alot more than they are now.

I am not dancing around the subject,I just asked whether it could be one of the promised  exclusives from Rockstar.You were the one who got offended and started bashing the possibility of it.

AND what the hell were you doing comparing it to Mario?

I don't understand how people actually think it would be a good idea to make the next GTA a PS3 exclusive.

If the next GTA must be exclusive (which is a stupid move in itself), it should be on the 360. No, the DVD storage format isn't holding it back, the PS3 has yet to show any games the 360 cannot handle. Besides, with this logic San Andreas should have been exclusive to the Xbox, porting it to the PS2 a year later. Sounds like a great idea, eh?

@Solid_Snake4RD: If all the games that were exclusive to the PS2 were exclusive to the 360 this gen, the PS3 would be suffering too. Not many people would have bothered with the system (most people don't have "console loyalty," see PS1 / Wii). Why do people feel Take-Two must cater to Sony more than Microsoft? I mean, don't forget that if GTA were 360 exclusive, it'd probably be near 10 million by now.

My god, I'm done. You have no idea what you're talking about. You can't compare 10 games to 1. It doesn't work that way.

And I was comparing it to Mario exactly like I wrote I was - "It's about as likely as Mario being PS3 exclusive". As in, it's never going to happen.

Yeah the PS3 would be suffereing,i never said it wouldn't suffer.I just said that because the other person was trying to 360 would be here even without those exlusive games.Agree with you 100% here

Anyways,about  your first statement.PS3 has many games that 360 can't handle like Uncharted 2,Killzone 2,etc

People just think 360 is as good as the PS3 because almost all the multi-plat games are first developed on 360 and the ported to PS3.Those devs don't push the PS3 version to its limits.They just make as good a game they can make on 360 and then port it to PS3 not pushing the system's limits as that would take more time and money and also it would make the 360 version look bad which they don't want as both the version should be lmostly similar.
