I just started playing this week. I have my finals next week. Should be able to play during christmas.

Any advice on what class to choose?

Temple Knights are easy... but magic is also suppose to be very over powered.

Dgc - That makes more sense.

The first one i said was stated in the IGN video review. Just looked it up and I guess they didn't explain things properly.

is archery in this game any good? or is it more like oblivion where its impossible to hit anything?

I never played oblivion but moving targets are hard to hit.

Aiming with Bows is nicely done. in closer range, you can Lock on, and if you have to shoot from a furtther distance, you can Zoom in, its pretty nice.

(but every bow has a rang elimitation, so if targets are toooooo far away, the arrow will start to loose height. but with exception of those flying Manta's in 4-2/4-3 you can have good times with a bow.)

but thebad thing is, that Arrow's are pretty weak compared to melee attacks.

so it's actually possible to be a consummate archer in this game?

yup.

and if you take the risk (lestat posted it) you can do enourmous ammounts of damage.. but your health has to be below 30% then :)

The game IS GREAT, but like it's been said before: NOT FOR EVERYONE.

You seem very interested but hesitant, so you should really just rent it first.

Also, the less you know about the game, the more you will enjoy it, you shouldn't know going in the game 'the best build for archer' or mage or recommended weapons and such. Much of the enjoyment is figuring stuff like that out! what weapon is effective against this foe? spears or blades??

That's why the game offers close to 0 hints.

And it IS actually thrilling to die against a horde of unexpected foes. the first time. or two...

^ i know. that's why i put in the thread title "no spoilers"

i only want to understand the game a little bit because.. i don't want to buy something that i'll end up reselling.

and about the archer thing.. i'm always more of a fan of archery than hand to hand combat. i was just wondering if it were possible to do it here, unlike in oblivion.

Yes archery is done good, BUT not recommended using the bow 100% of the time. It's better as a complement.

The game has varied levels, some of which are narrow tunnels or dark caverns in which you would have to go point blank with the bow... and with no shield and foes all around you jumping from the dark, you've better have plan B ready

Also It makes me wonder, what didn't you like about archery in Oblivion?, that way we could better tell you if it's different or not
