Forums - Sales - Madness ? THIS IS HD-DVD !!!

Cheaper price FTW and fuck that dickhead on the article, I'll not pay 30-35$ for a fucking movie no matter its HD or not. come back to me when HD movies drop to 14.99 range like DVDs. as for the players even if blue ray wins I dont care, not paying $400 on a new player. I'll pick one up when the player price reach 100 bux and their movie cost same as dvds. As for Now DVDs FTW!!!!!.
I paid like $800 on my first dvd players but its something truely revolutionary compare to VHS and I strongly feel its worth the spending. but right now HDDVD and Blue Ray offer nothing new but only a minor upgrade to picture quality which require a big ass TV screen to notice different(I do own a 50" plasma) but that small increase of feature does not worth the ticket interm of player or movie price right now. I dont need 4-6hr of trailer, commentary, I only care about the movie. I never even bother to watch those stuff even on my DVDs.

Looks like that time could be this friday if you live in the US and have a Wal-Mart nearby.

I will have to side with pk on this one.  I will not make the jump until the price comes down, and until there is a clear winner.  Who wants to pick up a $200 HD-DVD player if the format is going to die in 2-3 years or vise versa?  If I had the money, which I do not, the only smart thing to do is at least get a combo HD-DVD/BR player.  I am tired of HD being shoved down our throats when the majority of the market does not even know what HD is.  Most people get an HD tv, plug in standard cable and think that they are getting an HD signal.

Wow, an HD-DVD player for $100? That might be worth it even for people who don't want to take a side in the format war. madskillz bought a $200 player with 5 free movies, which is almost as if the player came for free!

You can go to Wal-Mart tomorrow and get a Toshiba HD-DVD for $99, and buy six HD-DVDs for $14.99 each. Then send away for your five Free HD-DVDs. That seems to be a pretty good deal. Spend $200, get a High Definition Player and 6 High Definition movies immediately, and then wait for your 5 free High Definition movies in the mail. I know where I would be tomorrow morning if I lived in the US.

$100? Christ, I might jump into this war for that price.

you do know this is the pathetically low-ended 1080i model right? The darn thing cant even put out 7.1 surround sound. 5.1 HD quality gives it trouble.

You're actually assuming someone holding out for $100 players actually has those sound setups?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

You do realize that in movies, the difference between 1080p and 1080i is virtually non-existent, right?

Progressive scan doesn't change the fact that movies are still shot at 24 fps.
