Forums - Nintendo - What does Reggie mean by "There will be more to it"

if i remember correctly the n64 cartridges had a read speed of 480 mb/s so cartridges isnt a bad idea for hd gaming but nintendo wont go back to cartridges i just cant see it happen due to backwardscompatibility issues.

Indeed, a lot of people get that mixed up. I imagine that the reason Blu-Ray games sometimes need installs is due to the enormous capacity of the discs and the seek times required to retrieve the data from the discs. Unless the data is organized in a very specific way, it will take a longer time to search for a single piece of information off of a Blu-Ray than the lower capacity DVD.
