I think this one can beat the kick-in-the-nuts kind of pain.

Toronto man struck in eye by police Taser

A man is in hospital and may lose one of his eyes after being hit by a police Taser over the weekend in Toronto.

The province's Special Investigations Unit has been called in to review the incident.

SIU spokesman Frank Phillips said Toronto officers were called to the scene of a domestic dispute in the St. Clair and Dufferin area on Saturday morning.

Phillips said a man who left the scene was confronted by police along St. Clair Avenue.

"The male was quite agitated [and] had been drinking. The officers on scene requested a sergeant attend the scene, and after further interaction with this gentleman, the sergeant deployed the Taser. And one of the probes struck the man in the eye.… we're treating this as a serious injury," said Phillips.

The Taser's hook-like prongs embedded in the man's eye and then delivered a blast of electricity.

The SIU is looking into whether the police were justified in firing the weapon and what caused the man to be hit in the eye.

The unit is called in any time there is a serious injury to a civilian involving police.

Damn, that had to hurt. What dumass aims at the head?

BOOM! Head Shot!

American police abuse the taser.

Seriously, the videos of that guy at the library and the guy asking Kerry a question are enough to confirm it and this only reinforces it (Of course in this case it could be that the police officer was justified, it seems likely that he was laser painting the guys face though).
The first two events would have been enough to get tasers banned in NZ

 I'm confused.

I thought Toronto was in Canada...

But Canada is a state of USA (soon) unless we hide all the oil. /sarcasm

Thread is meant for the "pain" part of the story. I guess the political debate was inevitable with this kind of news...

American =\= USA.

Of course I actually didn't read it properly, but hey its a good excuse.

Its still nasty, the police officer should have had way more training than to shoot a taser to the face.

well duh, of course this would turn political. I'm baffled that tasers are even allowed to be used by police forces, that thing is very dangerous. I mean how many death casualties have been recorded lately due to the use of the taser? The idiots aim for the head and torso which may either bring on severe injuries or death (due to poor heart condition). If at all, it should be aimed for the legs to get people off their feet.

These kind of cases really annoy me, the police of course try to cover it up saying that they had no choice but tu use it.....against a drunk man? Yeah right. Guilty of 2nd degree murder or inducing serious body injury in my book that is.

About the original topic: on a scale from 1-10 i would give it a 12. That's how much it must hurt to have something pluck your eye and later get electrocuted in an area which is one of the biggest concentration point of nerves..

@Wojtas. If used responsibly tasers lower the rate of people killed by police as they are very rarely fatal, as opposed to firearms which are often fatal.
Basically tasers are a non-lethal firearms substitute.

Doesn't change the fact that policemen tend to kill people because of their incompetency and belief of "i am the law!". Besides, you're not getting the point. They use it on drunk men? For crying out loud! If you have a problem getting a drunk guy to listen just hit him a good one on the cheek and he's out without any serious injury. Then you can cuff him with no problem. But no, policemen use tasers because it's comfortable. I mean, are we cattle that has to be prodded when we disobey?
