It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

SONY says MORE THAN 440K

ioi said final numbers are close to 500K

so its probably in between TBH

AMAZING PS3 sales

not amazing Wii60 Sales!

Too bad Black Friday wasnt in Europe aswell...or else you'd then see ''amazing'' sales for the Ps3!

A Black Friday in Europe would do amazing things for the PS3...amazing things lol.

You can create a thread for the DS. Here is PS3 thread, so we commented the PS3 numbers .

And there is a Nintendo thread: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=93885 .

Speaking on behalf of 360 fans I am shocked by this terrible news of the PS3 heavily outselling the XBox 360 in NA during BF week.

PS3 BF sales week surprise a huge blow to XBox 360 and its fans. I can not believe this has happened. It means the gap will fall to 5 million or below by end of 2009. Natal launch may have to be launched early or just let the lead fall to 3 million by Fall 2010?

PS3 outsold the 360 by almost 200k units in NA with BF sales week. The XBox 360 was supposed to win over PS3 in NA. XBox 360 is much cheaper than PS3. This can not not be happening.

Hopefully this is not the end of the titanic battle for second place between the XBox 360 and PS3 in the console sales wars showdown.

Yes, but someone posted in this thread that only the Wii numbers were off, which is why I mentioned it.

Microsoft needs to keep more price advantage imo... honestly, I think they'd have been much better off if they'd kept the the $249 60GB Pro in circulation.

Next year they need to have something like a $199 360 Slim+Natal combo if they want to keep momentum... they've got more room to drop, they should be worried more about competition than profitability at this point (like Sony).  Thankfully their exclusive lineup is already looking pretty good for next year (Halo Reach, Mass Effect 2, Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, Fable III, Kingdom Under Fire II, Ninety-Nine-Nights II, etc).

Don't worry man. The Xbox 360 might very well end up with bronze (you never know though, it could be that the 360 is hitting saturation somewhat whereas the PS3 may start to hit saturation in the future as more and more of them get into homes, especially in NA) but the platform isn't in any real danger. Third-parties are going to continue developing mostly multi-plat considering how there are about 9 million more Xbox 360 consoles sold in Americas and the numbers in Europe/Others aren't nothing to sneeze at either. So as long as Microsoft is getting third-party support and Microsoft Game Studios continues with their quality releases, Xbox 360 gamers have no reason not to be happy (it's only the PS fanboys that scream doomsday scenarios of 360 being doomed because the 360 has less "real exclusives". A fact that doesn't bother all those 360 gamers who buy L4D, Mass Effect, etc. in droves anyway) and the Xbox division will stay in the black. After all the investment in the Xbox division, they are in the black now. The focus should be to recoup all of those past investments. That's going to take awhile because Xbox 1 was a huge financial black hole but it's better to be in the black than to bleed themselves even more with red ink.

When Next Gen hits, NextBox should start with Razor and Blades to ensure that the console gets third-party support (and it'll help loads to build a reliable console from the start and to make the console easy to program for just like Xbox 1 and 360). But 360 is already locked for that support.

whats surprising me is how the ps3 is doing numbers the 360 never has done and that at $299, where as the 360 is already at the $199. it justshows which console really has more demand and popularity. i mean 440k in the us on just black friday! and only 100k behind the "unstoppable" wii. the ps3 is on FIRE! and is gonna have one hell of a holiday!

It's really good seeing the PS3 getting so much love in the US considering that the 360 is racing far ahead in terms of sales.  Maybe, just maybe this is a sign that the PS3 is in fact starting to take off to the masses being as the price is now down to a reasonable $299.

It's seems that in both NA and Others the PS3 has now reached the price that will allow it to sell much more and start taking sales away from potential Wii and 360 buyers.

This Xmas looks set to be the PS3's best yet and considering the price has yet to reach magical $199 in the US and £150 in the UK, this IMHO shows that the PS3 has a good few years of growth and momentum which means this is the start of the road.

On the other hand, it maybe shows that there is a bit of over saturation with the 360 and the $199 in the US and £139 in the UK price point is starting to not make as much of an impact as they really want and wish....so maybe just maybe the 360 needs Natal to push it on again, but if the rumours and timescale are to be believed and it's not going to launch until late 2010, then the PS3 has a good 9 months or so to build up big sales and claw back the lead Microsoft has over them.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)
