Forums - Nintendo - Should Square port FFXIII to Wii?

Yes, yes they should. They already said it was possible with Crystal Tools, no point in gimping their sales by ignoring the best selling console.

If they don't, they should at least make FFXV Wii exclusive. And Haeresis XIII too.

Yeah, they shouldn't ignore half the market by not releasing it on Wii. However, they really should ignore half the market with FFXV.

It makes perfect sense.

Roffle, like Wii isn't going to be more than 50% of the market by the time FFXV comes out.

Well...

I don't think so.

FF sells because of, what Malstrom calls "spectacle" - big production values and story.

It's pointless do detract from the game the main things that sell it, and, sorry, but the Wii crowd proved that they care about gameplay, not graphics, soundtrack or story.

Porting FF from HD to Wii makes as much sense as porting Wii sports to the current HD consoles (without the motion controllers).

wrong. Wii owners care about gameplay, soundtrack and story, NOT graphics. is how it should of been written.

porting to the wii?? very bad idea. most 3rd party games sell like shit on the Wii putting FFXIII there would be suicide and they know it

keyword here being MOST. but ALL that most is either nichie or total garbage games.

FFXIII would beone of those that would sell. Just wait for DQX. you will see how well that sells (assuming SE dont move it again).

Nope, you're wrong :)

If most Wii owners would've cared for these things, they wouldn't have bought a Wii, after all, how can... well, a console with no game that is popular because of it's story compare to a console with MGS4, FF13, Valkyria Chronicles etc.

Pepole buy Wii because they want GAMEPLAY, don't fool yourself.

story does not always equal watching multiple 10min plus long movies. Most nintendo core games do have a story to tell. This is what the core audience want.

Just because the wii has a big userbase doesn't mean we are all core gamers. The core 3rd party games don't sell because most lack gameplay and story. It is that simple.

PS3 can't do grass confirmed?

:(

You really aren't making much sense to me.

By the time FFXV comes out, it will release on a next-gen console. It wasn't a realistic statement from you to begin with.

It's just that you hate to see the being Wii ignored, but love to see the HD consoles being ignored. There's a word for that around here, I'm sure you've heard of it before...

You want it to be delayed further????

If it's possible, of course.

Edit: I really think that Square believes there is no market for their games (casuals) and this is why you will probably not see any main series game from Square on the Wii.

So have you never heard of Dragon Quest, or....

DQ is big in Japan, FF Japan and the West.  West Wii market is very different to Japanese one.  Keeping FF on the HD consoles (or at least PS3) ensures big sales for worldwide.  I think western Wii markets have proven they don't care for most core games multiple times over, so is a large risk.

'Core" Japanese Wii games do better in the west than in Japan (No More Heroes, Muramasa, HoTD2&3, etc).  And honestly, FF is pretty damn casual/mainstream these days anyway, which has no problem selling on Wii (Guitar Hero, RE4, Sonic, etc).

If Japanese developers want to target ALL markets, Wii really is the best console platform...

Story also doesn't count for having no Story, like Wii sports/resort, play, fit or fit plus, Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy or Brawl.

The only "core" Nintendo games that have a story are Zelda and Metroid, and guess what? Metroid Prime  3 sold a little bit more than HALF of what MP1 sold, on a console with two times and a half of the userbase, the difference between Zelda WW and TP is also small enough to prove your point wrong.

Again, MOST Wii owners don't care about the story in their games, if they would, they would buy the other consoles, with games that are CONFIRMED to have better story than most of everything the Wii has, instead of waiting YEARS for a game with a good story.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Er, have you actually played Mario Galaxy?  It's the most storyline focused Mario game yet, and easily comparable to any other story-heavy platformer.  Brawl has an insane/complex narrative running through it actually, with tons of high end CG and was written by the guy (Nojima) who did scenarios for FFVII, FFVIII, FFX, FFX-2, Crisis Core and the entire Kingdom Hearts series.

Zelda TP massively outsold TWW too, it's actually the 2nd best selling game in the series if you combine SKUs.  And then there's other "story-focused" Nintendo series that sold better on Wii than GC, like Paper Mario, Animal Crossing or Fire Emblem.  Hell, even Metroid Prime 3 outsold 2 by a decent margin.

I don't really see your point... does GT3 being one of PS2's best selling game mean PS2 owners didn't care about story?  Since MGS4 didn't outsell MGS2, does that mean PS3 owners don't care about story?

Err, are you serious? So SMG is the most story focused ever, that doesn't mean anything, it means that the story is more focused than "Bowser kidnapped peach, Mario rescues her", I also don't compare it to platformers, but if I would, I would probably compare it to Ratchet, you see? No comparison.
And do you truly call Brawl's narrative "complex/insane"? Are you kidding me? I've seen the entire single player story of the game, it SUCKS. please don't tell me that you compare it to MGS.
Also, the fact that the scenario writer wrote gaems with better story doesn't mean anything as well, the fact that someone did something (or a lot of things) good, deosn't mean that anything he does is good, look at the soundtracks for Secret of Mana and Kingdom Hearts, Chrono Cross and Shadow Hearts 2, see? Once again, a mot point.

And if Zelda WW was released on the PS2 and Xbox it would've out sold Ocarina of Time on the comibned SKUs, once again. And man... do you consider Animal Crossing "story-focused"? About MP2-3: Yes, it outsold it by a significant margin, however, not close to be on par with the difference in userbase between the GC->Wii.

No, GT doesn't, but the best selling games on the PS2 also have MGS2 and 3, FF10 and 12, and LoL, if you consider userbases when you look at MGS and 4, you see that MGS4 has a MUCH better attach rate than MGS2.

Once again, I don't say that all Wii owners don't care about these things, or that all PS3 users do care, but when you look at the importance of a stoy to each consoles userbase, the difference in precentage between the two is ASTOUNDING.
