Forums - Gaming - What is Halo Reach and why does it matter?

I can tell you that microsoft will put up its biggest marketing campaign ever for Halo Reach. You will see it everywhere... on buildings, in subway, burgerking, on the streets, on cars, tv, magazines just everywhere you will look there will be halo reach.

Also, its bungies biggest game ever they said. So it will easily sell 10m+. In 6-8 month everyone is screaming for halo reach and everyone wants it :)

And it all starts on 12th december with the first ingame trailer from halo reach that will be released this very day.

LMAO. I keep thinking reach around now.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

i do not get where people or the original poster for that manner, are saying halo reach isn't going to sell as much as the halo 3 and then bring in how halo 3: odst and halo wars didn't stack up well against the previous entries.

1) halo wars is a new game and new genre that microsoft was trying to tackle so i personally wasn't expecting sell numbers to be high in comparison with halo 3 or halo 2 or the original for that manner, just because it was a game totally built from the ground up in a new genre that has never been tackled with the halo name.

2) halo 3: odst is just as its title name says it. it's an expansion from the halo 3. only those that bought halo 3 first, which were the fans that bought the original halo 3 at launch will purchase this game. most casual audiences will not pay any attention to it considering the game didn't get the most advertising as halo 3 did and it was not an direct sequel.

3) halo: reach is a prequel to all halo's and its based on the book. now if you read the book then you would know and fall in love with the game and will think well this is a game that is worth noting microsoft will advertise the heck out of this game and such. the game has been in development since the halo 3. so that's approximately three years.

so saying halo: reach will not do halo 3 numbers is crazy. we know nothing about the game at all only that its halo: reach and that whoever bought halo 3: odst will have direct access to the halo reach beta this coming december.

how your speculations until we get details. by your tone you sound like you just don't like the game at all and your tired of microsoft and bungie milking the franchise and getting easy money. well look and behold this is life so grow up and either don't buy the game or buy the game but don't make a thread and run a rant saying "why does it matter?".

What gets me is that HALO 3 is STILL tops on XBL...so i can't figure out why people think the brand is fading...It's like CS was for years on the PC...

first off by the time halo reach comes out halo 3 will have sold 11m+ copies.so reach is the first full sequel(or prequel) since halo 3 so i see the sales of reach looking like halo 3 or better.
you can say the popularity of halo has gone down but you would be wrong. Odst a 60 dollar expansion is going to sell more then 5m copies, thats good, and exceeded bungies expectations. halo wars is going to sell 2m in its lifetime. its already sold more copies then any other console rts ever. that is saying something.also halo 3 has been first on xbox live activity 99% of the time since its release.
there is going to be double te consoles out when reach comes out then when halo 3 came out(18m when 3 came out 40m+ when reach comes out)you can try to say the casual gamer,or new gamer had no idea that odst was just an expansion. id say less then half the casual gamers/new gamers new that about odst. besides odst ddnt look like a massive awsome game.
odsts marketing campain was decent but is going to be nowhere near reaches.also reach is going to have some great looking gameplay, and the game will look massive(unlike odst)
theyve already said the marketing is going to be bigger then halo 3's and with more then double the potiential buyers that could be huge.
how many copies will it sell
senerio 1- reaches marketing campain is as big as halo 3's and doesnt is basically a copy of halo 3 with same or very simaler multiplayer with decent campain(like halo3). it will sell 10.5m to 13 m copies,
senerio 2- reach has bigger marketing then halo 3. has new gameplay(especialyin multiplayer). has a great singleplayer(could happen since reach is such a great story). it will sell 12m to 15m
thats not a streach the biggest reason being huge marketing combined with double the xbox 360 owners and 3 times as many xbox live users then when halo 3 came out.(important to note as halo games biggest atraction is its multiplayer)

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

The only legit reason for that would be it lacks Master Chief.

Reach should become after all the highest selling 360 game, it better out sale MW2

i will out sell modern warfare 2 on the 360. hell MW2 wont out sell halo 3, and halo came out to almost half the consoles.

it might have master chief its just that he will be out of the game in the begining or middle of the game.

Expansions aside (ODST= add on, mini campaign, Wars= RTS) the BOTTOM LINE____________________ is that every major Halo game has sold MILLIONS and all 3 main games have all scored well over 90%.

Anyone that doubts that Halo: reach will not catch Halo 3's sales is simply not been realistic.

Halo: reach will top Halo 3's sales by a country mile........... it's a given.

Microsoft have been quiet this year (ODST was barely advertised here in the UK, and neither was Forza 3 despite it showing great legs).................. expect a STORM next year.
