Forums - General - Your personal album of the decade?

We had album of the year, now what do you think is the album of the decade?

Personally I'm going with Kid A by Radiohead followed by Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem.

In my limited knowledge (I don't consider myself to be a music connoisseur), I'm going to go with "A Beautiful Lie" by 30 Seconds to Mars, but they've got another album out shortly (within the decade, no less), which could be better.

Other albums:

Mutter - Rammstein
The Majority - Mammal
Songs for the Death - Queens of the Stone Age.

1. Dig Out Your Soul by Oasis (2008) - flows perfectley and has some superb rock songs on it, a fitting final album for my favourite band
2. Dont Believe The Truth by Oasis (2005) - not quite the same flow to it as DOYS, thats the only reason it loses out, both superb albums though imo
3. All That You Cant Leave Behind by U2 (2001) - excellent album with a great set of songs
4. The Dreams We Have as Children by Noel Gallagher (2009) - live album for charity, exceptional stuff from Noel though
5. Accelerate by R.E.M (2008) - stong album, far better than the very average around the sun

im assuming compilations dont count, my top 2 then would be:

1. Stop The Clocks by Oasis (2006) - best of the best
2. In Time: Best of 1988-2003 by R.E.M (2003) - great collection of great R.E.M songs

Zwan - Mary Star of the Sea: My personal favorite album of the 00s.

She & HIm - Volume One, or Mandy Moore - Amanda Leigh

Warrior of Light #66

She & Him was a pretty cool album.

Kid A - Radiohead

Up The Bracket - The Libertines

Origin of Symmetry - Muse

Funeral - Arcade Fire

Neon Bible - Arcade Fire (2007)

The Tipping Point - The Roots (2004)

Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes (2008)

Mama's Gun - Erykah Badu (2000)

I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning - Bright Eyes (2005)

My favourite overall: Neon Bible

1 by the Beatles.

Seriously, that's the best one I can think of. There's not much to choose from.

Holy shit, this is tough. I think I'll have to go with Hot Fuss by The Killers. I have used and abused that album over the past five years. Kind of mainstream but an excellent album.

Other contenders were Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips, Give Up by The Postal Service, Up The Bracket by The Libertines, and Good News for People Who Like Bad News by Modest Mouse.
