The time?  It took me just as long to do it... as it's took you to reply to it.

No time at all.

Another fun bit of education for you.

He was offered a plea bargain of 3 to 4 years if he would of turned himself in already.

Which is actually less then the 5 years (not 6 months) he would of got in the UK.   The 6 months only being for a first offense.

It's this simple.  "If it seems to good to be true it is."

And

"Don't have strong opinions about things you haven't researched".

I think the personal attack on me when others didnt read all these other sources, was completley out of order by the way, also to note, when it comes to data/sources I would have thought that surely you knew that Quality is more important thatn Quantity. not neccessarily relevant in this case, but generally I think its worth noting.

It didnt seem to good to be true to me, that point seems irrelevant to this?

er, dont most people do that, I will try and find more info in future if you really think none of the sources I use are worthwhile and all of yours our, perhaps I should ask for a list of acceptable sources from you then?

There was no "personal" attack on you.  Just on your unworkable opinions on things extradiction that would pretty much ruin international crime efforts.  Claiming the US and UK shouldn't have an extradition treaty is asnine.

As for quality vs quanity... a number of well respected news sites will always trump one respected news site.  Even if it was the most respected news site... because of how news works.

as long as you are using well respected sites

I dont consider my opinions unworkable, that also wasnt what I was saying, I was saying that the US legal system still practices something that we block other nations from extradition because of.

New York Times, Times, Telegraphi, Other BBC articles.

It took about as much time as it took you to reply.

It's a good lesson for you.

The BBC isn't above sensationalist media tactics.

The actual reality of the case vs what the BBC portrayed in that article is striking.

Including the fact that he's expected to serve no more then 10 years.

Actually, you're very likely missing a part of your brain OR you are ok with being ignorant..... your choice - which one is it?

Before writing really stupid statements you should research facts first.

Even without mentioning the obvious - that Gary was diagnosed by 3 top autism experts in the world!!!!!! - Gary McKinnon was born autistic and the signs were there from the very beginning: he was among other TYPICAL Asperger's traits obsessed with UFO's and searching for proof of existance of aliens. He also had a severe depression and suffering from paranoid delusions at the time of the unauthorised accessing of unprotected Pentagon computers (their passwords were blank).

Does it mean it's ok what he did, without permission? No. Does it mean he should have been supported and diagnosed earlier to prevent him from going a bit nuts in the first place? Yes. Was he failed by Local Primary Care Trust, the doctors and the British government as an adult with Asperger's who developed secondary mental ilness issues as a result of stress and anxiety dealing with autism on his own? Yes.

It's just shows how ignorant the doctors are about High functioning autism in the UK (as well as most parts of the world) and THAT should be addressed. It's quite normal for people to be diagnosed with Asperger's so late in life because it has not become an official diagnosis until 1994 by which time Gary was a grown-up and out of the school system where his difficulties could have been explained and he could have been supported.

Autism and Asperger's is NOT just a childhood condition - you do not grow out of autism - you are born autistic and you stay autistic for the rest of your life. To say that only 11-year-olds have it or that he's 'faking it' is ignorant and stupid and actually full of malice.

I bet you were one of the bullies who tormented other autistic kids when you were young, am I correct? The way you're so ready to attack someone vulnerable without knowing all the facts, just because he is already being picked on.

Jumping on a bangwagon is not clever nor cool - you have a serious case of 'mob mentality' and a lack of independent thinking.

I bet you'd be one of those people who sees someone on the ground being kicked and you'd run up and start5 kicking them too. nd when it's over, when someone asks you, why you did that you would not even be able to say anything other than that you don't know - everyone else was doing it so you thought it would be ok...

NASTY!

Shame on you!

If you don't understand the issue eiother learn about it and make well-informed logical comments or buy yourself a punchbag and take out whatever little frustrations you have on a 'non-living' thing.

Leave autistic people alone!

It should also be noted that he wasn't diagnosed with Asperger's until after he was arrested.

This is a syndrome that is usually diagnosed by like... 11 years old... and Asperger's at higher ages is actually nearly impossible to diagnosis correctly.

In otherwords... he's likely faking.

No. I'm actually someone with a degree in psychology... and no. It's usually diagnosed before 11.

Either as it's condition or another kind of ASD it laps over with.

It doesn't help that the tests for it are mostly targeted at the young.

It's a very coincidental timing.

If he really does have it.  He should of been diagnosed with something similar back when he was in school.

Though the Syndrome has actually been known as far back as the 40's i believe.

It's just mostly grouped with Higher functioning autism.
