Reminds me of "GameCube momentum" in 2003...

The Gamecube had momentum in 2003? Since when? When did the Gamecube ever outsell the PS2? Did it ever outsell the Xbox?

All serious questions.

Yes.  Gamecube outsold it for a bit in 2003 after it's pricedrop.

Edit: I'm surprised as you are.  I just googled it.

What ? I laughed very hard now!  Reminds you of "GameCube momentum"? LOL!

"Gamecube momentum" - price $99,00

PS3 momentum - price $299,00

Gamecube was dying when they achieved that "momentum". It was Nintendo's desperate measure. There isn't any kind of relation to what is PS3 now. Go study game history.

Er.  Gamecube started off cheaper then the PS3... it started off at like... 150.00... I think?  I don't know.  I got mine for Christmas at launch... and I didn't even want it.  My parents just assumed i would.

Had a couple games that were worth it though...

So of course when it cuts price it will be cheaper.

The PS3 pricecut actually seems more desperate and "dieing" since i'm pretty sure Nintendo still made money on the $99 lunchbox.  Where sony has yet to turn a profit on the PS3.

The prices are more analogus then you think due to cost.  I'd be surprised if PS3 was ever $99 retail.

Gamecube Momentum @ 99$ - still profiting for Nintendo

PS3 Momentum @ 299$ - still being a loss for Sony

Game history is a bitch isn't it? :)

Gamecube was 99$ and was still profit? I didn't know that... so that's how they survived last gen

Well... that and the massive Gameboy profits.

Wii still sells amazingly so i dont see how did Nintendo Loose momentum, especially when it outsells its rivals after the launch of the biggest game this gen. It's good to see PS3 picking up sales over last few weeks but their PR guys should stop being dellusional.

Because it's selling less then it did last year... and the gap between it and the Ps360 is lower then last year. (I think.)

Something can loose momentum but still be going very fast.

It's not like he said it's lost it's momentum.

Man, some people are just sensitive. Though it seems to me that diehard Wii fans are the worst, in my experience on IGN and here, anyway. Always paranoid about websites being anti-Wii and seeing Wii hate in things where it isn't present.

Wii is down YOY. This means that it has lost momentum. And the fact is YOY numbers are what is always used to measure a products momentum. But it's been out for 3 years and is this is to be expected. It's still selling well, though, so don't sweat it. This guy was only doing his job in promoting his company, and was not bashing the Wii. If he was he could have said something like, "The PS Wand will utterly crush that peice of garbage Wii-Wii!" But he didn't.

It also frustrates me to see these blind predictions about how the Wii is going to keep its momentum for years to come. Listen, the Wii pulled an amazing feat in taking the market by storm and rising to number 1, even with 360's year head start. But its momentum isn't going to last for forever, and most likely next year will be no different. Unless there is another price drop, the Wii will probably be slightly down YOY again, while PS3 stays flat or rises. Again don't sweat it. It will still lead the market and come out first when this gen is over.

Er, but the YOY decline is, well, declining.   Wii's still lower YOY, but it's actually gaining momentum monthly.

At the moment the Wii is gaining momentum, not losing it.
