Forums - Nintendo - RE4 Wii goes platinum.

Okay, it's shipped and not sold, but according to this site, it's not that far off.

Now let's hope developers realize how to make a proper port. Don't screw up the controls, and don't charge full price.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Well that thread mostly discussed Zack & Wikki. I would like to discuss what it means for Wii support in general.

Well it definitely gets some messages out to developers...

- There's a mature audience on Wii.
- Good done ports sell well (I don't like this particular - hate ports, even good ones)
- Capcom will definitely support Nintendo big time (maybe even more than Xbox360/PS3)
- Wii owners thirst for quality games (if GH3, Manhunt 2 and Z&W sell well 3rd parties will definitely take notice).
- Budget titles can seriously boost sales.
- Wii games tend not to have explosive debuts, rather strong legs.
- The easiest millions of bucks Capcom has ever made.
- RE4 is a masterpiece and Capcom is the best 3rd party developer.

I know a lot of you hate ports, but their wide profit margins make them a necessary part of the industry. Look at how well they supported the Gameboy line. It's just that if a game is from a past generation, it shouldn't be sold at full price unless there is a hell of a lot added.

The Wii's audience includes so many new gamers, a well-done port should be expected to reach lots of people who don't have the other consoles that it was ported from.  Especially when it's released for $30 or less.

Good to see RE4 passing the million mark on Wii so soon. Now...to two million
