Surprise the simpsons game got such a high score. I thought the demo was horrible.

But, I guess that's what you get when you have a rating for "graphics" and not for "value" or "control." In fact, that's why "sum of its parts" ratings reviews generally can't be trusted. |
Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.
As for the actual changes made this time around, Guitar Hero is a mix of both good and bad. We don't personally dig the style as much, with character designs looking blatantly over-the-top from even the original GH designs, and far more product placement throughout the game, but visuals aren't exactly the highest priority in this case. That's like freaking out because of DDR backdrops. Still, the animations are stiffer, and the interface and general art direction screams "Look how hardcore we are!" in more of a forced manor this time around, rather than doing its own thing and being visually pleasing because of it. You can tell Activision really tried to be Guitar Hero, rather than letting the series sit in its visual niche it had already developed. It's a minor gripe, but it does feel a bit forced.
Bah, knew I wasn't the only one. 360 reviewer noticed it as well. Apparently they jammed a hellva lot more Product placement in including an "Axe Body Spray Guitar". 360 Reviewer also mentioned there's some minor story bits where the band is accused of selling out and says it's actually hypocritical how it plays out considering how much Activison has sold out with Guitar Hero III.
Sounds like they're all mostly the same. (Doesn't look like the PS2 version got reviewed) 360 version got low marks as well for graphics, stating stiff and robotic animations and rare instances of slowdown when using star power (no mention of that in the Wii review) in addition to not digging the style change. I was thinking maybe digital sound vs. analog may of played a factor, but they didn’t mention or I skimmed past it.
Still can’t make up my mind mostly because I still want Rockband, and if I can use the 360 Guitar for it and Vice Versa, that’d be better purchase for me over the Wii version. But my sister wants to play online and we don’t have XBOX live gold and not terribly interested in buying it, so there’s that.
Wish they’d just announce a Wii version of Rockband or that the Guitars for it don’t work for GHIII (or do). Make this easier for me. =P

The Wii version of Rockband is almost confirmed for 2008
Or perhaps it was confirmed already?

Was it? All I've seen is that "absolutely" quote from Harmonix's CEO on the possibility of it happening, no official word yet. I may have stated myself I think it’s very likely, but my naturally pessimistic nature tells me thinks wouldn’t just click for me like that. =/
The confirm a PS2 version but not a Wii version, so I think I'm not (entirely) paranoid about this.
GH3: Rumble is incorporated in the Wii version when you use Star Power... and that's about it. Sound from the Guitar is pretty nice though. Relaly lets you know you screwed up.
There appear to be reports of the 360 Guitar being made of fail. When will the 360 escape the breaking?
My biggest complaint for the Wii version: Naseating camera view during Solo's. Dear God, catching that shitty, shitty, shitty shitty camera view from my peripheral vision while trying to play a solo as it waves along your... chest for some reason just annoys the hell out of me. I now intentionally ignore the top screen.

Going by Kotaku, only the graphics are better which don't matter in a game like Guitar Hero. Crecente actually said he preferred the Wii version for sound due to the remote.
