Well Dissidia is not a fighting game as your typical one is. It's played more like the series Budokai Tenkaichi from DBZ games and it has tons of strategic value when you mix the RPG elements with it.
Also you're generalizing the story in Dissidia (which was never it's focus) with what the story of Final Fantasy XIII can be, without even knowing about it completely. You say that you've played all Final Fantasies until 9 and X-2, then I ask you this, what did you think of Final Fantasy VIII story? Did you complain and said these same things as well?
