Forums - Sales - Natal will put 360 on top for the rest of the generation

I find it amusing that the only reason people claim NATAL is going to fail is "I don't like Microsoft" and "The unit is a gimmick"

I thought we were hearing the same things about the Wii controllers?

You need to realize that casual audience also = hype audience. And there's a lot of hype to this train.

To me, it is absolutely absurd that this thread gets mostly mocked while threads consisting of people believing PS3 will overtake the 360 get a lot of support. Microsoft could even penetrate the Japanese audience IF they market the unit correctly.

Throw my name on for support of this.

My sister and sister-in-law asked me about the Wii before it launched and desperately wanted to know if I was buying it on day one so they could try it ... Even though I own an XBox 360 I haven't had any questions about Project Natal; and I believe its success is highly questionable at this time without knowing of any of the software for it or its launch price. Regardless of how cool the technology is, a $300 add-on with awful games will not sell well, in contrast a $50 add-on with multiple awsome games could do some damage.

Lets get a few things striaght.

PS Mote is a direct Copy of the Wii mote but better improved.

Natal is gonna be HUGE or anything like that until we know more about it.

MS must market the hell out of Natal.

PS Mote will help get exclusive Wii games over to the PS3.

And to add, pre-Wii Nintendo isn't nearly as capable of hyping as MS. If they keep it going, and it does what they say it will (and doesn't fall apart after a few days) then I'm pretty sure this will be the next big thing in gaming.

Swand is pretty much on par with a Wiimote/Motion+ in terms of tilt and movement.  It has an advantage in positional tracking thanks to PSeye (something Wii lacks entirely) but it's calculated "pointer control" is slower than Wii's IR (and possible too slow for faster cursor games, like rail shooters).

As for Wii exclusives... well, I hope you like Boom Blox...

What type of sports games would be good on this?

- Volleyball
- Basketball?
- Boxing
- Martial Arts (hand to hand type)
- Tai-Chi
- Aerobics
- Yoga
- Karma Sutra :)

Intermission:-
Ok now what if they showed you a dirty movie, and they check if you have your pants down, then if you start beating off, they could data mine this and understand what type of porno scene turns people on, instead of all the garbage we have today.

- Dance dance revolution
- Some sort of educational game where they teach posture, poise, body language etc
- Educational - teaching sign language
- Erotic game where you have full body control of an avatar where you bone an NPC (may need peripherals, I know guys will like this, you pervs!)

Theres a ton of possibilities for this thing, anyway bed tine for me kbye.

That's my crazy prediction.

Following the Natal launch, the Xbox 360 will be the top selling console every month for the rest of the generation (excluding further price drops for PS3/Wii in the future).

I don't expect anyone to agree with me at first (except maybe selnor edit: and starcraft). That's the whole point. That way, when it actually happens everyone will say "omg, OkeyDokey was right. lol, look at the posts on the first page calling him a nutcase" and we'll all have a good laugh.

I actually think it could happen, FYI. For these reasons:

-Early reception is overwhelmingly positive
-3rd party support will be strong
-It will be bundled
-Hype will be massive following the E3 2010 blowout. It will get a ton of awards and mainstream media coverage
-Microsoft will put all their weight behind possibly the biggest videogame related marketing push in history. Will be marketed towards families and casuals

This should be fun.

B_E_L_I_E_V_E_R_S:

1. OkeyDokey
2. starcraft
3. -

I am sure that will make you happy some 18 months from now

The issue is that the Sony Wand has a lack of analog controls, which the Wii Nunchuck provides. It will be hard to port any game that uses the nunchuck part of the Wii controls. The only games that use the Wiimote alone really are the super-casual/party games.

As far as the Wand being better than the Wiimote, it will have to be tested alongside. WM+ has brought the Wii controls to a 1:1 movement, as accurate as one can possibly get. Hard to make something better than perfect.

Had it been released earlier i'd probably agree with you. Right now i don't see that hapenning. It will probably sell but I dont think it'll be enough for 360. It may outsell ps3.
People have chosen wii as motion sensor/ innovative console this generation. Maybe next.. (We'll have to see what's nintendo next step though).

On top of Sony, very possible, Wii, not so much

What do you think Nintendo will do to compete? More price cuts? Vitality Sensor? Please elaborate.

Also, to be clear--I DON'T think the 360 will beat Wii's lifetime sales. I do think the PS3 will be a distant third, though. And Sony's wand will be a flop.

I don't think they'll have to do anything to "compete". Natal will go down as a nice, gimmicky add on that - while successful with quite a few titles - never really catches on and does nothing for Microsoft in the overall hardware race.

If the week Natal launches is the week after the next generation starts, then sure.
