Good song. It has an excellent guitar track, but the vocal part isn't completely to my liking

I just think the arrangement is very unique. Harrison always had his own sound, where as the Lennon/McCartney/Starr songs all had a similar sound.

I don't know. It's true that Harrison has unique arrangements (and it's commendable given the smal -compared to the big two- amount of songs he made), but John and Paul have unique sounding songs too. I mean, you have I am the Walrus, Revolution, And Your Bird Can Sing, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields Forever, Lucy In the Sky, Come Together, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Rocky Raccoon, Honey Pie, they all something unique. I admit though that some of the more commercial songs particulary in the first years are very similar sounding, but hey, every Beatles fan knows the real Beatles start after Rubber Soul,

As for Ringo, he only made two songs, so it's not fair to judge. Still, I like both songs, specially Octopus's Garden, so no problem

The thing is, many of the songs you named can be attributed to one or the other (Lennon or McCartney) and well yes each did have some very unique characteristics I think mostly it comes down to the vocalist and not the arrangement (Although McCartney in particular had some songs that you could always very easily attribute to him like Rocky Raccoon, Honey Pie which have his very unique style to them) The thing about Harrison though is his experimentation with instruments like the Sitar (which is why I can't understand how you would not love Love You To, the uniqueness of that song alone sets it apart from most of their work).

Well, to be honest, Love You To bores me a bit, sitar or no sitar. Sorry

Then again, the most "innovative" song by the Beatles is Revolution 9, and it's their worst song too, so...

I dunno, I really wouldn't say any of their songs are bad, even Revolution 9, tape loops are cool. Of course, I tend to gravitate towards prog/art rock so the tape loops on Revolution 9 really don't stack up to some of the stuff I've listened to lol. I love me some sitar though, I'd love to to learn to play.

Well, I am a big fan of Prog (just check my fav albums in my profile, it has a lot of it), but not too fan of the "avant-garde", which is one of the reasons I'm not too fond of Lennon's solo work, that may be the reason

The sitar shines in Norwegian Wood, though

Someone should make a "good music thread" where there would be no Taylor Swift or rap.

The sitar does indeed shine on Norwegian Wood and Within You Without You. Also I really like Lennon's solo work, but I do like avant-garde music as well. Personally I have always thought Imagine is probably the best song he ever wrote, with or without the Beatles.

In a un-Beatles releated note, good to see a fellow King Crimson lover. (talk about some avant-garde though, their mid-late 70s work is very much avant-garde.)
