Forums - Sales - Assassin's Creed 2 sells 1.6 million first week

While 1.6 million is certanly good, somehow I expected more in this post-MW2 market.

Not sure why the article says 1.7 million, as the official PR from Ubisoft says 1.6.

OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE RECEPTION FROM GAMERS AROUND THE WORLD FOR ASSASSIN’S CREED™ II

LONDON, UK – November 24, 2009 – Today Ubisoft announced record first week sales performance for its Assassin’s Creed™ II video game with 1.6 million units sold through worldwide according to internal estimates. I dont know why but i thought AC2 is a game which sells more on ps3. i just cant recall how i got to that conclusion.

The 360 version outsold the PS3 version in the UK (despite so many adverts for it on PS3) and the first AC sold more on 360 so I think the 360 version probably sold more overall but the margin is probably smaller this time.

my guess
950k on 360
650k on PS3
I was surprised how many of my xbl friends were playing the game.
This time those numbers are well deserved

Good for it. I'm really enjoying it this time around. First one I saw as a 75% to 80% title - great concept, but unfinished game, almost no real narrative or plot details revealed (the whole thing felt like nothing more than a prologue really) and horrible padding at the end with enforced combat to make the game last a tiny bit longer.

But I have to say, so far AC2 has taken the concept and actually delivered a game this time, so colour me impressed. Not quite as polished or overall awesome as Uncharted 2 for me, but very, very good nonetheless.

My main gripe so far is the guy's with the guitars (I know, they're not really but I can't be bother checking spelling of what I know they are)... man, how I'd love to silence them but the game punishes you for too many civilian deaths.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

@ reasonable
the first AC story was great that is what let me buy the second one.

Better have some good legs with 450 people working on the game.

Pretty sure this won't sell anywhere near the previous.

MW2 got such massive sales from most of the people that bought COD4 and liked it.

AC was bad for a lot of people, so I doubt it's going to have the first's legs.
