Forums - Website Topics - Forum Rules are Ridiculously Out of Date

defo was, unless the mode removed its history or something because i was banned for a week because of it

and FTR, that day i had seen 2 threads bashing GT5 over Forza 3! 2 threads! and thought fine il have my piece shall i? of course a PS3 supporter mine will be banned not theres

No one can remove anything from your mod history. Not even me. To remove mod history entries Brett or Pat (the site owner and the site coder) would have to actually go in and edit it out of the code in your profile. Trust me, if it's not there, you weren't banned for it.

@PlaystaionGamer
Making revenge threads isn't the way to go.

I like the rules, they are pretty straight forward, but I have been banned on several occasions due to a misunderstanding of what I was saying, likewise, I have been banned for things that I have seen other members say quite often and yet, they get away with it...even after I report them. I think consistency is something the mods need to work on. Also perhaps the mods (one in particular) should be a little more careful about the way in which they interpret things. I know this only serves to complicate the process, but it would piss off fewer members.

I uh

Does this fall under the "off-topic" clause of the substance rule?

its a thread about the rules, so dont think so lol

Oh there is one other bit while this has everyone's attention. Is there anyway we can get it to be ok for moderators to edit out post content that is deemed against the rules? The troll posts sticking around only furthers the chance people will fall for it and ruin a thread. I can see many reasons why this would be a potentially bad idea so I understand if that goes against what the current team wants to do.

EDIT: removed before this goes out of hand

I'd think that one of the reasons of ban is to teach people that such thing is unnaceptable, if you edit the post chances are other people won't see what was the user banned for, and thus, won't learn that that is not to be made

That is one of the many reasons I referenced. I can see a lot of arguments for or against it. I personally land on the side for it, but I can see why others wouldn't.

@PlaystationGamer
It is not all about you. Relax. That post was not a reference to anything posted in this thread.

@gnizmo - I agree with the rules, and thank you for creating this thread. When 2.0 launched we should of had an rule update to be more clear and include certain things mods look for. I know common sense is a valuable thing and not everyone has it, so even common sense rules need to be listed.

@naz - Read your draft and it is looking good. Thank you for your hard work.

@ioi - Thank you for a wonderful site~

I do have a question. can we keep the report button in locked threads? I have had to on occasions had to PM a mod because they had missed a post in a thread (http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=2745764 ) that was the last occasion
