Down slightly worldwide, but I think the black friday boost in the US will be bigger this year than last so next week should be up, and then pretty flat through the holidays.

Why?  Wii's were plentiful last year during black friday weekend.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

^Possibly NSMB, possibly an improvement in consumer sentiment over last year, possibly the price cut

^^^ Yup, last holiday there wasn't really any big titles for Christmas. SMB games are the top recognized Nintendo IP, so that's definitely a reason to shake up more people who haven't gotten a Wii yet. There are still people out there who want Wii's but just havent had the time or money, but holidays tend to make people make bigger purchases.

and people really are buying wiis just for nsmb wii.

just like they bought the ds for it's nsmb.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

I agree with ioi on the Black Friday thing. The reason being is for Wii the system has been down year over year for the last few months but not necessarily down for the count. Meaning it hasn't lost mainstream brand or top brand for that matter. Thus you could argue that crowd is still going to buy it and it will put more emphasis on the "big holiday weeks".

Actually you could argue this for almost all of gaming aside from the PS3. I think every system (with still the inclusion of the PS3 but not for the same reasons) will see some pretty big Black Friday boosts simply because gaming had been down. It's been proven that gaming isn't losing any steam so bigger boosts in the holiday only make sense. Wii and especially DS will feel this the most. PS3 is the only one that we have to wait and see on because obviously it hasn't been down in those months leading up and thus isn't under the same pressures but I presume it'll have still a big Black Friday jump just like the rest.

But really it doesn't look like the Wii will be too far of from last year's holidays sales. Hell if it really does on the higher end it could even best it.
