We have 500 000 lakes just in that part of Canada:
It's easy to laugh now.
I'm wondering how 30 million Canadians are going to protect our water from 7 billion thirsty everybody elses.
The answer is that we're probably going to trade a lot of our water and no small amount of our sovereignty to somebody who can protect us. And I think we all know who's going to be the top bidder on that contract.

I'll get over it and... Do you realize Canada could be next, earth hater?
Nah. If there ever was a general heating of the earth, Canada would likely benefit greatly. Possibly even become a world superpower just from the sale of water alone.
I'm going to avoid the original post (except to say that I mostly agree in sentiment, if not what he actually says)
But Canada definitely stands to lose a lot to warming. Invasive species are already taking a toll, and our cold winters are all we have to protect our forests from the massive pine beetle infestations Here's a youtube doc on the subject with some very scary music
Not to mention increased forest fires, landslides and economic damage from thawing permafrost, an even greater flood of mosquitos, and some significant threats to our water supplies as well. We'd be looking at a lot more rain quite close to shores but much fewer clowds traveling farther inward. It could be quite damaging to to the thousands of Canadian fresh water lakes.
I know we tend to think of desertification in tropical climbs, Canada is going to be an environmental basketcase if warming continues.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I'm not laughing of the situation :O
I'm just saying it won't be a threat anytime soon. Let's not get all paranoid here.
Well we aren't going to run out of water. We are in a biosphere and the only thinks that penetrate that sphere are sun rays and meteors.... and some humans now haha. But we will eventually run out of fresh water if we keep up what we are doing. And yes there are many predictions that the next wars won't be over energy but indeed water... it is the most valuable resource.
But yes there are a lot of climate and environment problems facing us in the next 100 years... things our generation needs to not only acknowledge but makes strides in helping to ease the blow and possibly preventing anything major. But I doubt we will.
I'd think by 2040 water desalnization would be cheap.
From what i hear in modern bomb shelter talk, the "Water world" solution is pretty workable too... it won't last forever but apparently recycling water that way works surprisingly well for a surprisingly long time.
