I mean I can understand 1 and 2 and a 3 and a 4 etc. But all these side series like Metallica and Aerosmith could have easily been incorporated into the main titles. It's no matter of size restrictions or anything like that, it's just them wanting to be able to get you for another $60.
Well perhaps for DVD versions its a little tough to be so many songs, but I'd much rather have a 2 disc game for $60 than 2 seperate games for $120. |
It's not that simple.
1. Each band specific title is designed differently from the main titles. The point is to play as the band in the different venues they've visited over the years. The main titles are about being a generic band playing many different famous songs. It's also harder to market it as band specific if 90% of the songs in the game aren't from the band at all.
2. It's not a matter of disc space. They could probably fit hundreds of more songs onto a single disc. It's a matter of paying for the licenses to use the songs. They don't get them for free you know. If you put 1000 songs on a disc, which is probably possible, that is a lot of licensing for a title that probably will never be able to make up the money that went into licensing the songs in the first place. They try to put in as many songs as they can while still turning a healthy profit on creating the game.
